Yes I know that they come in to the country in very small quanities and ususally sell fast. Just curious as to the actual "retail" price here in Canada for a Keltec RFB?

thanks

Take a look at the Kel-tec website and double the price!!!
LOL Thanks Vault!!!!!!!
Well not double but close.
Sub 2000 $300 US = $600 Can
Su-16 $500 Us = $800 Can
KSG $800 US = $1000 Can

I believe all retailers that sell the RFB have MAP pricing...they must sell at a specified price (or higher). That price is $2399 here. I think that's how it works...if I'm wrong someone will come along shortly to point out the correction.

Vault Pricing, = Monopoly!!!!!!

Vault Pricing, = Monopoly!!!!!!

The only way to sell for less is to import your own.

But then you create a backlash from other dealers, then you get black listed by distributors......then you go out of business.

Unless you are not a dealer...but can sell Firearms. Like Dlask. $849 for Compact glocks is $200 less then 'other' dealers. But they can't cut him off because he can import them night and day if he wants.

Vault Pricing, = Monopoly!!!!!!

Are we really going to get into this again?
If you can bring them into Canada cheaper then do it and sell them to everyone that hasn't gotten one yet because they've seen it cheaper in the states.
Using your logic no one in Canada should buy a new vehicle here either because they are cheaper in the States.
There are costs that go along with importing a firearm from the US. These costs are added to the retail price which will make it cost more than it does in the states. Don't blame Vault, blame the US and Canadian governments and all their stupid rules and fees to export firearms out of the US.
Don't forget that there has to be some markup because if they don't make money on them then they go out of business.
I bought mine from Epps and now that I've had some time to play with it I would have paid $3000 for it. The RFB is an awesome rifle. Worth every penny. Just don't buy it and expect it to shoot like a 20" AR-10. It is not a sniper rifle.

Since the stores can't keep them on the shelves I would have to say I'm not the only one that thinks it's worth $2400.
If you think it's overpriced but really want one then just hold your breath till you see one on the EE for $1500.

They cost what people are willing to pay.
If you were the importer would you lower the price on an item that is in short supply and sells before it even hits the shelves?

Another factor is the US version has a 18 inch barrel... If you were to import one, it would be restricted... Kel-Tec makes the Canadian version with an 18.5 inch barrel...

And yes, I do find the price a little disconcerting with the Canadian dollar being above par with the US dollar...

Cheers
Jay

My son is finding them right now in several gun shops in Florida from about $1,250.00 to $1,350.00 .

Keltec RFB's and KSG's and even the PMR30 (22 mag pistol) have always been in short supply in Canada and as far as I know in the US. We have a constant back order list for RFB's and KSG's and to date we have never had one on display offered for sale. Other distibutors have tried to go around Vault but were turned down mainly for lack of inventory to ship to Canada but also the current agreement between Vault and Keltec. We are slowly getting our back order list down and might even have some Keltecs on display after the next shipment in a couple of months. As far as I know all Canadian dealers sell for the MAP ($2399) for the RFB. Phil.

I eventually bit the bullet and bought one at the inflated Canadian price. I wanted it bad enough, but Iwill be the first to admit - this rifle should not cost a penny over $1500. It's nice, but not $2400 nice. I own one and still think so! I do really like the rifle, though I find the gas system is too sensitive and needs to be tuned to the actual load you intend to use.

I would prefer a more coarse gas system like on a FAL.

Well he can always buy one of those cheap ones and have it rebarreled up here for the $800 - $1000 it costs and then be in line with the $2400 non-restricted price tag :p. The only advantage this will have is being able to customize your barrel to your desire and not having to pay extra to thread for a muzzle attachment.

Really the cost isn't that out of line once you take into factor that it's Canadian law combined with ITAR regulation that drives up factory build price which means higher price sold to the distributor. I'm sure that if it could come across the border with no modifications to the rifle or mags it wouldn't be that far off in price, probably in line with importing your own and paying your own shipping and customs charges/taxes.

Once you find a load it likes how often do you plan to switch ammo types?
I bought mine and set it up to shoot S&B 147gr and haven't touched it since. 100% reliable.
I might see if I can reduce the gas a click or two now that it's getting broken in though.
So does it really matter that the gas system is a little sensitive? Not really in my opinion.
Sure it would be nice if it just ate anything you fed it but it's not as big of a deal as people make it out to be.
I can definitely deal with a little fiddling while I sight it in for a new cartridge.

Yea i bought a Sub2000 after never seeing one in person , they are nowhere near worth $650 ! Down south they sell for $300 , thats a fair sounding price for the quality of that carbine .. And then trying to zero the rifle i ran out of windage adjustment on the front sight ! The windage can not be zeroed its still 5 inches off at 25m and no room to adjust, it was over a foot and a half off out of the box! As far as i can tell there is a barrel alignment problem cause the sights dont seem to be canted . So i called Vault and the jerk said that im a poor shot and they dont warranty for bad shooters then hung up on me. I have never dealt with such a ####ty company ..

My next step is to call KelTec and see what they can do from their end, I hate gun makers that dont zero their iron sights from the factory if KelTec did this the problem would have been caught before it went out the doors. Thats why i love company's like CZ , every single gun i ever bought from them the iron sights were zeroed perfectly with a test target in box.
