DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CZECH SMALL ARMS VZ58 and CV858?

I have a restricted VZ 58 folder. It is the original military issued model that came with all the kit, leather mag pouch etc. It has a chrome lined barrel and has been an excellent firearm. It has never had a malfunction and I have fired thousands of rounds of cheap surplus ammo through it. It sure is ugly but I would trust my life with it.

Man, I don't know what "people" reported having problems with their CSA. I read ever shred of info I could find on the 2 guns before in bought mine. It appeared to me the VZ58 isn't as happy shooting 223 as it is 7.62. I'm going on 2500 rounds through mine without a single misfire or any other problem at all. I shoot 7.62 of course.
When I was researching the 2, which wasn't that long ago, the advice I got and as far as I can tell it was excellent advice, was buy the CSA if you care about looks and a quality finish. The toll wrenches are better and the whole gun is hand assembled. If you don't care about looks, get the CZ 858. As has been said, it's battle tested but ugly IMO. Think of an army jeep, functional, not pretty. Same idea.
Personally, I'm super glad I bought the more nicely finished gun as its something I can not only shoot almost every day, but something I can be proud to have in my safe for many years.

I hear the wood on the vz58 and the cz858 is the same ... is this true?

by wood i mean the beaver barf as it is referred

I would love to be able to get the actual plain Jane CZ858 in a 5.56 configuration .
Do they even exist , or is it just the vz available in 5.56 ?

Im thinking about getting a sa vz58 with the plastic & m4 stock, in 223 non restricted. If there were cz858 rifles in 223 I wouldnt hesitate to buy one either. I own a cz858 non restricted 7.62x39, and it has been 100% flawless....Its got several crates of ammo down the pipe, and every one has been a hit down range......even dropped a couple deers with it, as my bush gun....sure beats a lever action...lol.

I love the ugliness of the OG cz858s. That ####ty blue finish and the sub-###ual looks. The more ****ed up it gets the better it looks. Like a dirty old war vet that keeps on being a bad ass even though he's got one eye and half his teeth. I'm planning a ghetto spray paint job on mine so that when the paint flecks off it looks like it's been used hard like a fleshlight in a mining camp.

^ lol I'm looking for a 858 to and from what I searched what ill do with it I'm getting a cz. I plan on cerakoate it adjustable stock and railed front grip from this base I don't see why id pay more for a finish that id paint anyway and for wood stock that ill change anyway. That's my 2 cents.

Only thing that bothers me with the 858 is how long that barrel is. I know that legally it makes it awesome as NR, but visually it looks off. Still wanting one. Visually I like the 15.5 standard length better.

I have a 11.75 barrelled CSA vz58 in 223. It gets the occasional FTE but it is happening less and less the more I shoot it. Still love it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Canadian Edition wood stocked VZ 858 that has been Arma-coated. Murdoc has/sells them. I, too, hated the Beaver Barf stock as well as all the machining marks on the VZ. Then I saw one that Barret had done and those issues, for me anyway, were resolved. Now I have the proven reliability of the VZ with the appearance of a well detailed rifle. I don't have the gremlin- added bonus!

BTW: Not a shill here. Just liked the product so I bought one!

Too bad they can't do the coating for inside of The barrel or I would have got one...

revive!! I'm looking to buy a non-restricted VZ58, I noticed that marstar has this FSN model (in restricted though)- does anyone know what the difference is? is it just the furniture that's different?

Difference between what? the FSN and CZ or VZ? Pretty much just the chrome lining and the fact tat its restricted. finding a NR chorme lined is like finding a black astronaut or a unicorn; possible but rare.

I JUST bought a NR CSA VZ 58 and it is sick. The main difference between CSA and CZ is that the parts are refinished and fitted. Functionally it makes no difference. The CZ will take you through the zombie-caust and back but the CSA is all ###y and black and comes with a nice grip.

That being said the trigger pull is slightly crisper on the CSAs ive noticed. It extends further out on the reset but when it breaks its very predictable.

i think the CSA stuff if new and the cz 858 is a mil surp rifle. I have a friend that owns a milsurp 858 and another friend who owns a csa tactical 858..both shoot identical with the difference being the csa has a m4 stock and blacked out hand guard and grip.

The CSA isnt so much new as it is military parts refurbished to look better than new. They are taking mil parts and refining them to look hot. There is also a tabbed bolt carrier in the CSAs.
