I'm sure this has been debated before, but it's kind of hard to search for. So, your most fun gun to hunt deer?

I have a Stevens gun in 30-06, which I've taken down 2 deer with. But in my experience, what I get out of a deer hunt is:

40% being in the bush
40% wandering in the bush with a gun
20% actually bagging a deer

So I could potentially be having a more fun time 40% of the time with a different gun. Advice, please. I'm particularly interested in various calibres people use.

Find something in 44 Mag, best caliber overall for whitetail in the bush, it is my deer hunting caliber and mainly took them with that... JP.

I like black powder for deer. Single shots seem to up the anti. I'd like to use a cz 858 in the bush but if I could get into a center fire zone I'd use my 4570 double rifle

Winchester model 94 30-30 lever action with iron sights !

Great bush gun that is cool reliable and fun to carry all day.

what i use anyway so im bias ;)

Kel-tek sub 2000. (Hand loads that push 800 ft-lbs) Its light, fun, and just plain cool to walk around he bush with. I've got a Vortex strikefire mounted to it which adds to the coolness of it. Its great for chickens and rabbits too. Plus if there is nothing to harvest on a given day, I can plink with it for hours on end for cheap. Makes for a whole lotta fun :)

4X on that.
Easy to carry and with the new Horniday 30-30 ammo it is also long range.

Super soaker 100...
Sure it lacks stopping power and range but I love the challenge...

40% challenge
40% lightweight
40% ammo availability
40% no pal required, infact no hunting liscence either :)

160% fun

Can you even hunt Deer in Ontario with that a Kel Tec Sub 2000? are you using 9mm or 40 cal?

Dont know the Ontarion regs. I'm in BC and its no issue here as far as I know. The CO didnt think it was an issue either. 9mm is a .35 cal slug remember. Plenty big enough at 75 yards or less
