Muzzle devise to quit a .223

This is one of the major problems I have with Canadian gun laws. It seems the number one problem the public has with guns, at least legal ones, is noise and yet the government forbids us from reducing the noise.

Sadly, there's not much we can do. If you don't mind me asking what are you shooting, where, and what specific hearing protection are you using. I dislike being "that guy", but do your hearing protection actually fit correctly? Even with proper usage, they might be the wrong size. It's happened to me before, the first pair of steel toed boots I wore were a bad size for me, they cut off the circulation to my ankles(even though they fit my feet fine) and I hated them and thought they were supposed to be that way, then I realized it was just a bad type for me. First couple times I tried to use foam earplugs I wasn't putting them in correctly.

I was at the range last weekend shooting .223 and wearing my Howard Leight Impact Sport. A few times I slightly dislodged the right muff and even a small amount of change from proper fit created a substantial difference in the amount of heard noise. Of course, the guy next to me was shooting .303 British and .308, which is karma I suppose now that I've got a .223 and leave my .308 at home.

So, if one were to find a MP5SD barrel, remove it from the MP5 and put it on another gun, whould that be prohibited?

Actually the MP5SD is specifically allowed by the law but that is only because we had idiots writing a law about something they were totally ignorant of.

However it is not the gun the is prohibited but the silencer itself. So no, you can't remove a silencer from one gun and out it on another.

Interesting info Suputin...

Here is the law for those interested… doesn’t really say much does it…
“prohibited device” means
(c) a device or contrivance designed or intended to muffle or stop the sound or report of a firearm,

The AGW brake is a new one on the market that directs noise and blast down range instead of out the sides.

You can see details about it here.

Well it's not the price of the metal, it's the time spent in developing it.

That + the money gun nutz have spilling out of their pockets evidently :)

Finally, a brake of this type that doesnt cost $200. I dont know how people spend so much on a piece of metal worth $5

Can you make me some for $5. I'll be a super guy and give you $10 each so it's worth your time, I'll take 4 for the .223 and 4 in 30 cal.
Please PM me when they are ready.

Thanks

P.S. your gonna make a fortune, I'll send all my buddies your way as well. I hope you can keep up with the demand.

^^^ yah it costs money to manufacture. the METAL is not worth all that much. its not $200. happy mr smarty pants :p....?

Actually, our supplier gave us a really good deal on this material compared to some other suppliers. So......there is actually about $2 of metal in these.

Unfortunately, you can't buy it pre-machined from the metal yard. Machine time isn't cheap. You can't just drill some holes willy nilly and hope for the best. There are tolerances on the holes that need to be kept in order to keep the brake effective. There is the issue of keeping the hole that the bullet exits through concentric with the threads to ensure the projectile actually exits and doesn't make the brake into a grenade.

We may be more expensive than some, but we are cheaper than most. Prototyping and testing usually aren't a huge factor in our pricing. They are all covered in time, and let's be honest, there isn't much for the AR that hasn't been R&D'd to death already if you do a bit of research.

Look through the list of 12-5 prohibs and you will find the MP5SD listed there. Which makes it legal to own for those suitably licenced.

I was wondering how the other half of it works out… I can see, technically, it is part of the MP5 and not a separate device, but they further named it specifically a Prohib… Thanks…

Buy one with a 20 inch barrel and a muzzle device that directs gasses away from you.

Oh ya, and edit post is your friend and go advanced if needed.
A welded in plug will quit a 223 :kickInTheNuts:
:D

lol seems like he used the mafia translator. How to keep him quiet...permanently >:D

Of course it's a 12-5(???????) , I could see 12-2, or 12-3 or flat out "prohib,you can't touch that" - but I'd never have guessed 12-5, I guess it's like that other famous prohib - the G11. Lot's of those used in drive by's.

Drive by's are illegal and not much fun with a mag pinned to 5 rounds. The liberals have saved us all again by banning things and restricting mag limits for law abiding citizens.
Criminals would never dare to break the law out of fear of the consequenses if they get caught.
