Hey everyone,
I finally broke down and got something other than a red rifle or milsurp and am looking for any/all help/advice that this kick butt knowledge base CGN has to offer!
I've been a shooter basically all my life and in the last 10 years or so I've been pretty anti-res firearms... This has kept me to long arms, hunting stuff, rimfires, etc. However, this spring I started shooting some 3 gun in Alberta and man... That sh!t is the most fun I've had with my pants on! The events were a LOT of fun, the guys/gals shooting were great and helpful and this year has been the best year of shooting I've had, hands down! I'm glad I got outside my box and got a pistol/shotgun this spring and started shooting 3 gun,
After this years fun I decided to see what I can improve on my gear and possibly upgrade some stuff more for ease of function and hell... who am I kidding... Can a guy have too many firearms?
So... To replace my CZ-858 seen here:
I've gotten in touch with Darren at Saskatoon Gun Works and ordered an Adcore B.E.A.R. Elite Upper/Mega Arms Lower w/ DPMS kit.

I usually run in mid-pack or better and the only way I can see any improvement on the rifle sections is to step up to an AR platform and run LAR mags. Just the shear bulk of 6 mags pinned to 5 for the CZ + a few stripper clips for extra ammo is mildly exhausting, hahaha! I refuse to put a LAR magwell adapter in any of my CZ's so an AR was inevitable. This AR will be setup almost purely for 3 gun. Trim, sleek, and little to no tacticool factor. It'll have all tan MagPul furniture. CTR stock, MOE grip, BUSS's and an Optizan 1-6X24 scope with a bender R/G illuminated retical. If I don't like the 1-6 I'll probably just get another of those Vortex R/G dot's and put it on there. They are cheap and tough and I'm used to it.
I'll mostly have to wait until I actually receive the upper/lower before I'll have any real questions though... I was just throwing this up here as an intro and maybe get some feedback from anyone who is running the piston drive Adcore uppers. I specifically opted for a piston drive upper due to my familiarity with piston drive systems. For me it's also a better choice due to lesser cleaning obligations. I've been known to run 2000 (non-corrosive) through a CZ-858 before cleaning it... lol! I work out of country a lot and time is short on my days off. Less time cleaning = more time shooting = a happier me,
One question I do have now, though, is about the LAR mags. I picked up a half dozen from P&D while up visiting my folks last weekend and I've heard a tale about needing to trim the follower down so that a full 10 rounds will seat properly under a closed bolt?
I'll need to run a few boxes of every type of .223 I can find to see what she'll like and what the barrel/chamber likes best too. Hopefully the cheapest stuff I find works great! I won't be doing any real long distance work with it though. It's only a 16.5" barrel and for the most part our longest shots in 3 gun are below 150 yards.
Pre-thanks for any help everyone and... yes, ostracize away! A new AR newb to punish!!! LOL!
