I know someone in the near past posted a thread about the prices that members were asking for their used SKS's but it baffles me the same how a VZ/CZ can be worth as much or more than a new rifle of the same model after they have blasted a case or less of corrosive (or non for that matter) ammo through it. Why would someone be interested in a rifle that has seen abuse and has a few scratches when you can spend the same money or 25 - 50 more and get it new? I love these platform of rifles as much as anyone and occasionally you do see a great deal or 2 but usually they aren't much cheaper than dealer prices especially if they are asking for shipping on top. I know I'll prob get flak for this post from a few people but I don't really care. People do have the right to ask what they believe the rifle is worth TO THEM but if you took the rifle to a legitimate dealer on trade in or straight up sale and got the true market value on a used rifle IMHO does anyone think you could ask near retail with no extras and quite commonly less mags than it originally came with? Just my .02 ...probably worth closer to .03 on the market LOL cou:

Or the "700" round folder for more than what one EE regular sells his for new. Its pretty standard fair on the EE, at least for the threads that last a while. Yet again, there are a couple of threads on new items for less than retail that can't sell either.

i got mine for 500$ + tax. three mags bayonet and sling .gently used. no problems. if i was gona get another used one that is the price id look for.

It seems to me that you are venting which is fine but did you buy one of these rifles that you are describing

Don't blame the sellers, blame the people who buy them for rediculous prices. If buyers refuse to pay retail for used guns sellers won't be able to demand it. As it is now, guns in general hold their value like crazy and some guns even more than others. You should try RC. They loose nearly %50 of their value as soon as you run them once. It sucks selling RCs

I bought a used cz858 non res, never fired, all the standard stuff like 4 mags, pouch, cleaning kit, then also a muzzle brake/flash suppresor, wood & a folding stock, and a crate of ammo, for $800. About the price of a new one with tax, only I got alot of free stuff. The guy bought it on impulse, and decided to fund another rifle. It worked out to being a new rifle that I paid for, then I got about $350 worth of ammo & assesories for free.

The good deals on EE don't last long....they are the ones that say spf beside them.

A like new cz858 should go for $600 plus shipping, and a well used, but working one should be $500.

$500 - $600 sounds like alot compared to a used sks, but its a way better gun, thats more modern, accurate, lighter, and has detachable mags, that usually includes 4 of them.

A sks with a severe bubba job will set you back nearly $500 after your all done, but still will be heavy, less accurate, and less dependable with detachable mags.

Ive been there done that with sks rifles, and with a cz858, ive never looked back.

sks bubba jobs look good from far, but are far from good.....Sks rifles are really the best bang for your buck, but should be left as is....If you want something lighter, accurate, and overall better, then you have to pay to play, and get a cz858.

Imho, if sks owners want to modify a sks, then don't use plastic, you should use woodworking skills, because some of those sks rifles look real nice if you put some elbow grease into them. Some refinished sks rifles look beautiful, and since theres 5 zillion in the world, a refurb sks has little collector value, so no harm done.

Not really venting as much as stating the obvious
I have bought several...my 1st deal was from the EE - a scream of a deal at 800 too came with EVERYTHING even a bipod still had cosmo ...unfired...1000 rnds and enough spare parts to rebuild the internals the seller also threw in a bunch of other stuff like a PSL stock, AK pistol grips and other stuff related...always looking for another deal like this...I dont mind selling occasionally either. I agree around $500 is about standard price and fair for a used but not abused rifle

Mosins m44 are milions and the price doubled from 150 to 300 today, will be the same with sks in two years.

I agree completely with blueflash and buttwhat. EE prices are pretty inflated, but deals do come up. Also, when your browsing ads, dont be afraid to make what you think is a reasonable offer. Ive gotten some great deals by simply throwing what I thought was a fair number out there and the guy replies with "sold". When I set up an EE WTS ad I always ask more than I think I can reasonably get and what its really worth. That way buyers can make offers and we can agree on something fair for both of us. Almost everyone wants to haggle and get the lowest price they can, I rarely have guys say I'll take it for the asking price. It happens but not often, even when prices are clearly very low. Its all a game. 2 people with numbers in their heads. Put your money down and play, thats all you can do.
