Brace yourself I just saw a commercial for a remake of Red Dawn!!!

Won't be the same.
It will remind everyone that there are other countries that have been invaded and have the population fighting back.........

The RED Dawn was about the Russkies. Who care about North Korea. This will be a dud.
They also look alot older than the original gang...with a Marine as their leader.

I have not seen that movie in years. It better be good.

dont expect it to be. we did a bit of vfx on it and its nothing like the origional. it went on hiatus as the studio almost shut down then they decided that chinese as the enemy wasnt pc, so they redid a ton of stuff to make them be korean (cause its okay if the korean are the bad guys)

Ironically, the Chinese are more likely to invade us than the North Koreans, which is a bit less likely than the Russians and A LOT less likely than the US. Once they get desperate enough for our resources, we'll join "The Axis of Eeeeviiiiill" Who knows, the Chinese may even defend us in exchange for some of our resources

Btw. didn't they do a pretty piss-poor Red Dawn remake down under with Chinese invaders?

There has been some threads on this already I believe. But fully agree this movie won't be the same, even though the original was before my time I've still seen it quite a few times. And yes the aussies did a "remake" that came out in 2010, I only saw the trailer but hey a movie with guns can be interesting in finding all the f*ck ups.

I still think the Russians and Cubans would have been better than North Korea. Russians can kick some ass once they get their crap together. North Korea is lame.

Not when it comes to killing off a general that has replaced the supreme, ultra, midget, dumbass, super, awesome, something or other leader. . .

Russkies would be more of a challenge

i liked the aussie version, they are even making it a trilogy so we do get a more fleshed out resistance story than even the original

and the studio changed it to north korea vs china because it was the only way to get the movie into the Chinese box office. While a lame excuse but understandable considering its a MGM movie and they were/are bankrupt

Disney use to own MGM when it was good. Now they don't have theme park money to bail out MGM. Disney trimmed the fat.

North Korea? Attacking America? WTF?

How exactly do they get to America without someone blowing them out of the sky or water?

I know! I know! The Starship Enterprise comes back in time, gives the North Koreans their transporter technology, and they all teleport themselves to America. Then, old ladies in America whip guns out of their purses and blow them away.

Two North Koreans manage to escape the slaughter and take over Canada, because Canadians are afraid of the legal costs involved in defending themselves.

Then the Romulans destroy the whole planet because they found that it was easier than trying to go around it.

The end.

It blows my mind that this movie is coming out. The whole message is: "Its terrible that these wealthy bastards have out-technologied us and are now forcing their way of life on our country with a proud if slightly weird heritage!"

I'm sorry America. I love you and your guns and all your wonky-ness. But seriously: you've been on the other side of that fight for the last ten years and then get pretty damn upset when the local population resists.

I loved the original Red Dawn, but the only thing I'm learning from this new one is:

If a person takes pot shots at an occupying army and they're an Afghan, then they're bad.
If a person takes pot shots at an occupying army and they're an American, then they're bad-ass.

If a person takes pot shots at an occupying army and they're an Afghan, then they're terrorist insurgents
If a person takes pot shots at an occupying army and they're an American, then they're bad-ass.

Corrected  With that being said, I'm not losing any sleep over Afghanistan (even though we stayed longer than we should have), but Iraq is a different story - pure aggression - oil at gunpoint.

If a person takes pot shots at an occupying army and they're an American, then they're freedom fighters

I see what you did there!

I'm not the kind of person to make moral arguments about either of those wars being a good or bad idea. I'm content to say from the safety of my arm-chair that if I was running them I would have waged things differently.

But it blows my mind that American's can be so willfully blind as to not see the parallels between movies like this and their own foreign policy.

(I do secretly hope this movie still has a Hind gunship battle. I haven't seen a good Hind flight since 9th Rota!)

Lol I was gonna put in the "freedom fighters" part but forgot about it.. Good catch :) They're willfully blind because the same interests that make money off taxpayer-funded wars control their media and the voter-taxpayer can only make his calls based on the information he receives. Loved 9th Company, even though they made Haqqani look a little too much like a character portrayed by Stallone :D
