Rare doesn't mean it has to be valuable.
That and a Glock is about as collectable as plastic dishes...
They have value, but not excessively so.
I would expect this guy will become familiar with the unending "BTT"
 
Specialized market... I believe him when he said it took him along time to collect those. Factory cutaways are fairly rare a day don't come up for sale often. To each his own, I'm sure there's collectors out there who would die by Friday if they didn't have those. To each his own.
 
As someone with no real interest in collecting anything, including guns, no, I wouldn't pay much for them unless I had an incredible amount of money to burn.

But they are interesting. Some collectors might value them highly.

A hockey card is just a piece of cardboard with a picture on it...some people pay a lot of money for particular ones, though.
 
The equipment exchange if full of idiots over pricing their equipment.

When sr1911 came out a few guys tried to sell a 700 dollar gun for 2 grand and i've seen RC k98s for 800 dollars along with 1300 dollar garands, the prices are grossly inflated.

Oh yeah and the price is firm.
