First pistol(s)...SIG and HK45

Base 220 has a better double action and single action trigger than my HK USP, but that's what Sig is known for. 220 is a "feed everything/can't stop it" workhorse. I was considering the HK45 as my next purchase but the price and my German Sig 220 makes it unnecessary.

the price was a kick in the balls for sure....but I knew that going in and don't regret it. Your 220 sounds sweet.

Wow for a pistol newbie you did great. It took me many many many guns to end up at where you are.

I'm a total research fanatic....I spent over 6 months going over every review, every forum, asking millions of questions...going to the range before I had my RPAL and renting pistols (although I never ante'd up for a .45..go figure ;) ) ...and I've always been a buy quality once kind of guy when it comes to everything..cars, kitchen knives, audio equipment, watches etc. just makes sense to me to avoid hundreds of dollars into throw away crap, in the long run it's actually cheaper to spend a bit more upfront...but only once. I'm also not a huge buy/sell guy...I like to get stuff I like and then keep it forever.....even my wife lol

edit: except for the SKS...that was a rare impulse buy....but cheap enough that I don't think I betrayed my values too much !

Nice Garand. Now what was this thread about? :D

haha...thanks. She's a refurb...all Springfield parts, 1943 receiver, brand new furniture....but goddamn it she's gorgeous.

there is nothing....nothing.... cooler than hearing an Enbloc ping.....nothing. I stand by this.

HK45 trigger in DA is fine...a little heavy but there are many ways you can use the gun so you never will have to shoot DA if you don't like it (unless you want to second strike a round that didn't go off...something you CANNOT do with a striker fired gun).

You Can carry it cocked and locked, can carry it with an empty chamber and loaded man and rack the slide when you want to use it, can thumb the hammer after the draw on the way up to your grip (takes no longer then a normal draw once you get good) OR you can put a LEM kit in it.

Personally I just left mine...I think mastering DA makes you a better shooter and after a few 1000 rounds you forget about how you used to dislike it and you just shoot it. DA/SA gives you options and that is something I enjoy.

The HK USP 45 is my unrealistic fantasy gun. I'll probably never get one because I have a HK45. But man do I want one.

Maybe.... I should do a ton of OT and buy one anyways..

like I said...I definitely need more time on the trigger...and look forward to it.

I gravitated to DA/SA for a reason..many of which you detailed. I love the fact that I can de-####..I like that I can thumb the hammer back and be SA....second strike is great too, although I doubt I'll ever need to...but nice to know it's there.

Also, and this can be debated forever, but I think dealing with DA/SA has the potential to make you a more focused, versatile operator.

Sometimes I go to the store to dry fire the USP but one day I'll buy it and it will be great. It'll be like Waynes world.

HK45 is an update on the USP 45 so I don't think you would want it... HK45 is supposed to be an improvement, but if you want them all, don't let me stop you :p
