Shorten PAL Approval Times

So I called yesterday to see if everything I sent made it there they told me that it mostlikly has but there about 2-3 weeks behind in there mail entry should i be worried about how much longer it may take or is that a general answer they give everyone that calls?

I got told the same thing when I called a week ago. Mine was received the 19th of Oct and showed up online as in progress today the 8th of Nov. About 20 days from the date of receipt seems to be pretty standard from what I've read on the forums and in my personal experience so far.

Sent Oct 9, issued friday, not bad!

If its an upgrade from POL to PAL does the license number remain the same?

Now, lets go buy something fun.

Thanks

Here's mine so far...

Application for PAL/RPAL received Oct 15th
Status changed November 2nd
Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.
November 13th: They called me to do the interview and have left messages for both my references.
I've been in touch with references and they will call in tomorrow.

My husband and I sent our applications in together, so far exactly the same processing times, they called him for his interview about 45 minutes after they called me. When he asked about our references they actually suggested we have them call in.
So now we will be on to the BC CFO and we'll wait some more....

My wife, father and I all applied for RPALs we live in BC we prepped for a long wait at the BC cfo office but a few hours after all the interviews where done each of our applications changed from in progress to approved.

I think the longest wait is the references if they can't get a hold of them they send you a letter to have them call in. It was easier to just have them call after the personal interview is done.

I sent my application Oct 12th registered mail
they received it online Oct 15th showed up online few weeks later
I called today Nov 14th and was transfered to do the interview

however i wasn't given a file number or anything so kinda scared i didn't pass, because ive had a few assault charges in the past none involving weapons but these were all 10 years ago high school days one charge as an adult. But when they asked if anyone's ever called police on me due to me being violent i said no i dont know why i did at the time i thought they were asking about in the last 5 years until i thought it over after the call, so i hope that doesn't screw me over

They dont like any violent issues, the adult one will require a more in depth review of your application.
pretty sure the last 5 years are the most important factors in their minds.
I was given a file number at the end of my interview so my references could call in and do theres.
Then I had a second CFO interview and it was issued right after.

Timeline for me and my husband:
Completed and passed our CFSC exams Oct 4
Mailed our applications Oct 11th
Application for PAL/RPAL received Oct 15th
Status changed November 2nd: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.
November 13th: Called both of us for our interviews
November 14th: Our references both called in before noon.
November 14th: Status changed this afternoon to: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

Woo hoo! I'm impressed with their timing so far. Hopefully there's no hold up with the BC CFO!!

My timeline:
Oct-1 mailed application (R/PAL) - 1st timer
Oct-8 received
Oct-24 shows up as "...received and processing.."
Oct-25 called to checked if everything is in order on my application. I was told that they could not do an interview now over the phone.
Nov-8 they called my 1st reference person/left a message to 2nd reference
Nov-9 they called me for a quick interview
Nov-12 2nd reference called in
Nov-14 showed up online as processed and licence issued...
Nov-15 started BIG WAIT on our mailman...
Decisions, options, choices, dreadfull LTATT wait in BC...
Cheers

Then I had a second CFO interview and it was issued right after.

The second reference finished his interview and i checked the website and my license has been issued exactly 30 days after they received it, called in like twice.

I grew up in Brampton so had my share of scuffles growing up, charged with about 5 assault related charges most were dropped i think 1 stuck, had a few other stupid charges being the idiot that i was but got a pardon 5 years ago no charges since and got my license, just incase other members are in the same boat as me. So i guess they must of looked at the fact that all my charges was at a younger age and had no run ins with the law since, and i had no weapon related assaults.

Time to get my CZ858!

"2012/11/15 10:46 MIRAMICHI Item successfully delivered"

It's only a matter of time now. It's a long shot but I hope it gets back before Christmas.

I'll cross my fingers for ya! Mines been there since Oct 29th and still nothing online.

I've been taking a tally on how long for results to show up online. The average is 22 days (including weekends) before anything even appears online. Once its shown online, its typically a further 3-4 weeks it seems for PAL/RPAL apps. Sometimes more. Being government.. they are probably shut down pretty much entirely from Christmas eve to the new years. Add on to the fact that most government / shoulder length government corporations are observing boxing day (the Holiday "payday" that folks get off for vacation) as Monday the 24th. My guess is Dec 23rd to Jan 1st, the offices will be closed. I figure mine should be in early January (being a realist. Its probably not going to happen before then.)

Having lived in MB all of my life, I've always assumed that Boxing Day was a national Stat...but it isn't...just in MB. All other provinces it's an "Optional" holiday, which means employers can or cannnot offer it to their employees.

Anyway, I don't remember exactly when I sent my RPal forms in, but it was around the beginning of or mid-November. One of my references dragged his butt on calling in for the interview until Dec. 22. My license showed up in the mail on January 6th. So, that wasn't too bad. Had he called in in November, I'd have had it long before Christmas.

Took exactly 21 days to show up online for me (rec'd the 25th, and today showed up online). I'll call in tomorrow to make sure everything's in order, and (fingers crossed) maybe get my interview done.

I don't see why it should take longer than the end of this month if I have my references call in etc..that's already more than a full week past the 28 day minimum. So you should definitely be shooting by christmas.

My wife and I both received our PALs in almost exactly one month. Neither of us were called for interviews, and neither of us had our references contacted. We are in the Maritimes.
I can't remember the exact timeline, but the first time I checked online it said "app received/processing" (or some such), I think that was maybe at 3- 3 1/2 weeks - a few days later when I checked it said "on its way/contact in 2 weeks if it doesn't come"...they both arrived on the same day later that week.

In expect that the area where you live has an effect on the processing time?

My wife and I sent in our applications for RPAL via registered mail on October 17th. It arrived on the 19th. They didn't show anything on the website until November the 9th (day 21). Called in that day to see if anything was missing and was advised the applications had been data captured but the originals not scanned and to try back in a few days. Called in again on Wednesday November 14th (day 26) and was advised they still had not been scanned and to try again on Friday as they scan every day. Friday November 16th (day 28, today) in the morning my wife missed a call from them as she was in a meeting and called back right away. They did her interview. I called in and they did my interview, I then had both my references call in for me and my wife as we had the same references. I just checked the site and both our status now reads "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact....". Good luck to all those waiting, and on a side note, everyone I spoke with at the CFC were polite and friendly.
