Shorten PAL Approval Times

Hey there. I sent in my PAL app and test results on April 12, 2012 the website says it was received on April 20, 2012. As of October 20, 2012 I still have not received my PAL and the site still says it is processing. They have done nothing to contact me or my contacts. I have contacted them a number of times and have been redirected to the provincial centre in Edmonton where I have been told there is nothing I can do to help move things along. I apparently am not able to speak with a firearms officer processing my application and was told not to have my contacts call in. 6 month wait seems really, really long. Anyone have experience like this, or might know whats going on.
really, really, really long.
Something is definitely wrong. I'm not sure why they are redirecting your call either. Not sure if that is normal for your province.
The CFC should be able to answer your questions as to why it has not been issued yet.
I would keep calling until you get someone who is willing to give you an answer. It is unusual if it goes past the 45 day mark unless they require more info or there is a problem..certainly for a unrestricted PAL.
Either way you should be aware of what the issue is by now.

33 days since i sent my app and it still doesnt appear online

I suspect that you will see something soon. You can try giving the CFC a call and see if they can tell you anything.
Once it does appear online, it will move along quickly if there are no issues or missing info.

Here's my story if anyone is interested.

September 17
Completed PAL/RPAL course in British Columbia.

September 18
Application forms and test results sent in by regular post.

September 24
Application received.

October 15
Appears as in progress on website, I called to make sure the application and forms were completed properly.

October 30
1:30pm One reference was called.
3:30pm I phoned in for interview.
4:30pm Second reference called in as well.
5:00pm Status changed from in progress to approved.

Now all I have to do is wait for the mail man.
I am left wondering how the BC CFO was able to OK it in half an hour.
All in all I my experience was very positive and I think that getting the job done in 5 weeks was very acceptable.

Congrats.
When I first read "BC", I said to myself, "Happy New Year 2013", but, glad for you.
And welcome to the ranks.

mine was the same way -- pal/rpal they recieved in Sept 28th. Issued nov 1st. Now I guess we'll see how long the ltatt process takes :)

35 days isn't bad at all considering i've read posts from BC that have people still waiting after sending stuff in back in july.

Application for PAL/RPAL received Oct 15th
Status changed today:
Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

So should I call next week to check on things and hope they transfer me to do my interview or do they make you wait until after the 28 day mark to do interviews?

Give it a week before you call. When mine appeared online I called to make sure I filled out everything correctly and asked to do my interview. They told me that the paper work I sent was OK but they were not able to do my interview until the info was fully entered into the system.

I got my LTATT from the CFO office in Surrey in about 5 minutes. I got a membership to Silvercore, printed it out and popped in on my drive home. Approved for 5 years.

I am in montreal, mailed in my stuff on oct 1st. They received my stuff on october 16th apparently and they have posted it online today on november 06th 2012. I called in and they confirmed that everything was okay on my application and that once my picture is scanned, my file will be transferred to the SQ. I should expect a call for the interview within the next 2-3 weeks.

keeping my fingers crossed so i can get it in novembre :)

Thanks for the info, so about 7-10 business days for the application to be "processed", and then another 12-15 business days for the online update. I'm pretty sure the SQ will be taking forever to do the interviews, keep us posted i'm interested in knowing how long it takes for the whole process in Quebec.

Also, out of curiosity, what will be you first buy and which club will you subscribe to?

I already purchased a remington 870 under my friend's name since we hunt every other week end. I will also be buying a restricted firearm but not sure what yet.
