"Affordable" Carbine tac light?

I've got the same flashlight actually, and it works pretty well... mine came with rings too, I'd like a pressure switch for it, but I can't seem to find one that'll work with it.

a weapon light should have two modes. on and off and nothing face melting lumen power levels I think 150 is the VERY MAX I would go with.
even when searching for a weapon light, look for one with lots of spill to illuminate the surrounding area without having to muzzle sweep everything.

streamlight's tac x (i know has multiple modes and hits 200 lm) but has very good spill and along throw. Beware though that these are not 1 inch tubes.
a surefire 6p or g2 is a good starting point, with the ability to "lego" them by buying different parts to increase performance or suit your needs. neither one has a constant on function unless you twist, only pressure.

just my 0.02

The light is only one component, the mount needs to be of good quality. Something that won't break upon impact, or come loose during sustained rapid fire. Basically don't get ARMS mount. Ive used zap straps to much success. In anycase affordable lights can make good wml if in a good mount. Fenix is good. A generic surefire would work as well. I've used tlr-1 as well. I may get into an x300 but all my lights are working for their intended purposes for now.

Ive got a $80 surefire on a $20 angled mount on my Tavor...=$100 LOVE IT!

On the SU-16, ive got a $17 garrison LED on a $15 scope ring =$32 ...... yup, ran out of money and made due, temporarily.. lol

Ha, Ha! I have the same on my .22 Mossie plastic AR, works good for backyard rodent control!!

I believe some of the new surefire tactical lights are being reported as unreliable due to recoil induced issues with connections. The older lights are fine. There is a difference between hand held tactical and weapon lights.

500 Lumen is what a lot of schools are recommend right now. Especially since the x300U and the new fury series are out.

You have to realize you're on CGN and that maybe 4 people in this thread actually know what they're talking about.

For me, I have a X300 on my pistol and Surefire Fury Defender on my rifle.

500 lumens? F*** me.

I have a low light course coming up and I'll be using:
Pistol: TLR 1 - 135 Lumens
Carbine: Fenix LD12 - 120 Lumens
Handheld: Surfire G2 - 80 Lumens
Handheld Back-up: Fenix LD10 - 100 Lumens.

I guess I'll be under lumened...or something like that.:D

You will be fine ;)

But if you get a chance try someones 500 lumen light for a course of fire or two and I bet you will not go back.
