Mossberg Tactical 25 round mag prohib?

Well,

I want to know if anyone has actually sent a formal email request to have the mags cleared to be legal at 25 rounds?
I have just called the CFO and was told that they are prohib and have to be restricted to ten because they are interchangable with a pistol. Also because the FRT says so.
I was told to send an email to firearmident@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
The last thing any one of us needs is to be a paper criminal.
Any solid facts with government documents to prove them to be okay at 25 rounds would be great to have on hand.

Mosberg tacitical 25rd mag is perfectly legal, Have fun.
The s&w 15-22 factory mag is limited to 10 but there are other 25rd manufactured mags that are legal for it.
I think you're confused somewhere.
 
Nope not confused, just got off the phone with the CFO IDENT. 1800-731-4000 Ext 1090 spoke with Rita. I am aware that the S&W 25rnd mag is prohib.
I would like clarification with facts from the CFO.
 
Why on earth would you call the CFO?!?!?
Unless I'm mistaken, Mossberg doesn't make a pistol.
The Mossberg 715T comes standard with a 25 round magazine & no Canadian (reputable) retailer would sell prohibited material.

You should consider giving the person who fed you this crap a good stiff kick in the butt.
 
The Mossberg 25rd mags is definitely NOT a prohibited device. It's also NOT a restricted device because it's rimfire.

Like JetRanger pointed out, Canadian retailers have been selling these since they came out and wouldn't do so if they were prohibited.

Suggest to the CFO you spoke to that they either get themselves better educated on Canadian gun laws or perhaps step down from their position and provide uneducated information in another field such as used cars.:sok2

Yes, that is all well said by all, however I will refer to the charge first, then let the courts sort it out mentality that we live with. That being said Canadian retailers were selling the S&W mag and after the fact were told by the CFO to alter them.
Staying on point where is there documented proof that the Magazine in question is legal at 25 rounds in Canada.

Target, if a rimfire rifle magazine is designed and also described for use in a pistol then it is prohibited unless pinned to ten rounds. Example is the Ruger BX25, it's a 25 round mag but since it packaged and describes that it fits the Ruger Charger 10/22 it must be pinned to ten rounds or it's prohibited. :(
 
Fair enough, but the information that is given to the police and the prosecutors, is that it is a prohib device due to being compatible with a pistol.

Anyone have any facts to prove their argument.

I'm curious as to which pistol/pistols the mag that you mentioned fits?

I understand what you mean and at the same time I dont. Do they not determine what is prohim and what is not? Are they not the ones that classify firearms?
 
^ you're completely correct they are supposed to be the authority for firearms in Canada, but there is a obvious bias when dealing with them (BC and ON being the most infamous) sometimes you just have to follow the written law over what they say, I was denied a new handgun because of an 'internal policy of needing a LTATT' the law states I had every right to buy but that won't stop some from botching a purchase simply because some just don't like guns.
 
I am not suggesting it fits into the pistol the CFO is, also they could not elaborate on this same question I posed to them. They in turn referred me to ask for a formal report into the issue. Thus my question has anyone done this already.
 
Just pointing out, we shouldn't flame the guy for trying to be a responsible gun owner.
However I do think you will get hassled alot for this post! Alot of guys have switched to shooting this great gun and making everyone freek out about having a prohibated devise just isn't cool!!!!!!
As everyone has stated, yes it's legal and I bet the Officer was confused and was thinking it was an M&P 15/22 magazine.

What relevance does a S&W magazine have to a Mossberg .22 rifle?

Yes thank you for pointing out that i am just trying to be a responsible firarms owner and it so happens that i am also one of those guys that has this firearm, thats why i am raising this question. nope it is in their firearms refrence manual, i have seen this first hand and thats why I am concerned.
The last thing I need right now is to be charged with something unfounded, and then be told oh, our mistake by the courts.
Also I would wrather catch flack here than catch a charge in real life.

Ps.. I love my littly Mossy
