Man does Westrifle ever have some nice looking SKSs on their site.

Where's the pics of the other rifles? Some of us are waiting. :)

Got sidetracked the other day and just started sweating out the cosmoline now, since the wife is away for several hours. :) I'm doing my usual method of placing it in front of the hot air coming from the fireplace heater fan. Slow roast, wipe until no more sweat and then change sides. Then air out the room before my wife gets home. :)

Mmmmmm, that nice cosmo smell wafting thru your house...ahhhh!

While I thoroughly clean the cosmoline off all my SKS's, I have yet to "sweat" my stocks. I suppose my safe queens could use that procedure. My shooters don't seem to loose much cosmo from the stocks.

I remember "parking" one of my SKS's in my garage in the middle of the summer for a few hours. Let's just say my garage get's sauna hot. I noticed small drops all over the stock. At the time, I thought it was my tung oil job. In hindsight, it looks like I was "sweating" the cosmo. Super easy to so. I will be sure to sweat all of them next year.

what kinda slings you guys get ? mine came with a wierd one, wayyyy long like twice as long, as a normal one, and a snap clip on both ends. never seen one like this before

Another 49 in the cabinet

Hi guys, i got my 49 this morning, yayyyyy:D Its an all matching 1949,unlike the previous 49, this one have the proper stock for the spike bayonet. There's a diamond refurb stamp on the cover(i saw this when i bought it), the stock is not renumbered and dont have year stamped on it. I think that the rifle only had a stock change with a correct replacement, stock didn't have been sanded either. The finish is first class, definitely a safe queen:) I'm very happy to get such a nice 49, guys on gunboard will be jealous:p Here's pics, enjoy!

kinda pissed off...just unboxed my 1954 Tula...was marvelling at the great condition the parts and the really nice hardwood stock...until I had a look at the back of the receiver cover...NOT a number matching part !

The rifle was advertised as "all numbers matching"

I'm assuming what could have been considered collectable...is now just another shooter ?

grrrr

Ofc, its better an all numbers matching for a collectable but the condition is important too. Do the rifle have a refurb stamp on the cover? Or maybe you can exchange it if you really want an all matching.

nope...no refurb stamp...looks like it just got swapped out somewhere along the line. Think I'll drop Westrifle a line...luckily I'm in Vancouver, maybe I can just drop by the warehouse and swap it for another. To bad, stock is in nice condition...but I do want to have a collectable "safe queen"..already have an actual numbers matching re-arsenal that's gonna be my shooter.

I'm sure Westrifle will fix this for you. Cheers,

Yeah, I'm sure Al will help you out. When I had a slight problem, I e-mailed him and he actually called me right back - great customer service!
Ditto. I only ever had one problem with Serge and company and they fixed it right away. Very good guys to deal with. Remeber they get crates full of rifles and anybody could miss a thing like that. Best to deal with the dealer befor you go GRRR here.

oh yeah...I'm not dissing Westrifle at all...was more just initial disappointment venting. Not implying there was any kind of shady dealing on their part. I've contacted them and I'm sure it'll be sorted out.
