Advice on first AR purchase

Yes it is a big price jump...you also doing a big jump in fit and finish and reliability...

ok, i did a ot of reading before ordering and it comes down to this....
have you ever shot one? have you ever seen one in person?

honestly, the majority of people on here bashing NEA (with some just cause....i know the background) have never even had a chance to play with one.
one guy i know tried one a few weeks ago, he hates NEA (in fact he is on here, no clue his username and sounds like he bashes them online too..) but said it works just fine when he tried it.
ivr got another friend who is very anti NEA and keeps saying it wont work at all. sorry but i have a hard time believing that a rifle that is on crazy backorder and always selling out at SFRC and Target sports is really all that bad.
maybe im wrong, but ill know in a few days/weeks....but it does seem like a mob mentality when NEA pops up....almost as bad as that Occupy Toronto group....LoL

I hear the latest-gen NEAs are supposedly better (there's kind of a running joke there, but I'll try to resist the urge...). Fortunately NEA does have a good warranty, so if you find yourself needing it at least you won't be SOL.

warranty is actually another reason i got the NEA actually.

when you buy something elsewhere there seems to be issues getting service. stores dont want to exchange your gun purchase...some have signs up (like sail and lebaron) and lets not forget the threads on one of the shops just north of orillia (who i have had good service from but havent bought a gun from them)

when i bought my 870 from lebaron i asked if i had any warranty issues how would that be handled.. sales rep told me we do not handle any warranty issues, guns are final sale. you would have to deal with remington directly.
great...so i have to mail my gun to where?? hopefully its in canada..but not likely...ide rather sell it as parts and recoup what i can.

now lets make it a AR15 that was imported...then who do you call? i know one shop on here said they will send it out for you...great.. call you in 6 months. its shipped to the local shop, then shipped cross border, then fixed, then shipped back - inspected at the border then back to the shop then finally back to you...
forget that as well....not for me...at least not right now.

with the NEA its all done in canada and hopefully within 4 weeks, and for me..its a better fit for buying a complete AR.
next one will be a build which is a whole different ballgame.

I am not anti-NEA....I am just saying the truth....if you do a little bit of searching on the forum or on the internet, you will see what I am talking about.
If you ever want to sell your Ar15...good luck selling the NEA. Sure maybe it will not have any problems, but alot of people do not like it.
I handled Daniel defense before, didnt get a chance to handle NEA because no local store stock them here.
Have YOU shot NEA before?

Also, the warranty thing is not true. I have a Core15 AR15, and wanstall does warranty work in less than 1 month.

this will be my first AR.
havent seen a NEA in person, but have spoken to a few owners.
i amost bought a used one, the problem i found with used is the guys wanted full retail for them. forget that.
on a $1000 rifle you really expect to sell it used for $1000 and then have to pay the $50 (or whatever it is) to transfer the warranty? sorry..not this guy.
used it should be $7-800 max.

what does a used DD go for?
ive seen a lot of LMT uppers up on EE and not moving at all either.... dont know what they list at new off hand.

there are a FEW exceptions to the warranties...but not many. seems like you lucked out.
bottom line...as Canadians we get shafted one way or another.

warranty is actually another reason i got the NEA actually.

Take the warranty thing with a grain of salt. There's a difference between having a great warranty and not needing it and having a great warranty and needing it. Case-in-point, Stag, LMT, etc.

The great thing about ARs is that they're standardized for the most part, so it's often quicker (and reasonably cheap) to source any of the smaller replacement parts.

andrew is right with respect to resale on the NEA. Due to the massive number of production variations, you just don't know what revision you're getting - or it's going to have any issues. This is probably why there's more demand for new as opposed to used. If you're looking for resale, DD, LMT, Stag or any of the other brands are the ticket.

arms east has stags for good prices...but still all 16"
LMT still pushing 2 grand or more and they have more barrel options that i found (mind you this was only a few secong google search lol)

either way... NEA seems to fit what i was looking for, in my budget (because honestly...im shooting paper...not jumping out of a chopper..)
if i could go deer hunting with it then maybe i would look at something costing double..tripple whatever...
kinda like buying a Ferrari and only driving to pick up milk once a week....

I know a few guys that love their NEA's and have also seen some :bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug: the bed at 3 gun matches. I have both DD and LMT and they are rock solid...100 percent. Testing how long they can both go without cleaning, just with clp and I am over two years on each of them. My DD is full of sludge and carbon but it eats everything I put in it. LMT is the same. I want NEA to suceed but they are not in the same league.
