Any of you gents trying the longer barrels check your muzzle velocity? Given some other data I've seen on 22 and barrel length, I would imagine that those bullets are moving pretty slow after all that extra drag.

I thought so too. I chrono'd the cooey at 680-690 fps. Seems it only lost about 20 fps or so from the longer barrel. I haven't chrono'd any from my other 22s. Next time I take out the chrony, I'll try a few different rifles and see how much difference there is.

I picked up some cci quite after reading this post.Filled the mag with 5 cci,then added 5 reg hv's.When l hit the cci s,all l heard was click,whap.They are shat in the semi but will be great in the ss,or repeater.Can't wait to pick up some other brands.Glad l read this post

cci quiet in a cooey 75 (27" barrel) "ping -wop" Ping from the firing pin falling, wop from the bullet hitting the target..

I shot some from Savage MKII TR this morning and just as you described; "ping-wop" I left my ear protection off and waited for the 'wop' each time. I was shooting at 50 yards with decent groupings...a good morning at the range but wicked cold.

Well guys I have been on the hunt now for a very quiet .22 for plinking. I have tried cci cb longs and cb shorts yes they are very quiet. Also tried cci quiet about. The same as there cb loads. Next remingtion cbee,s a little louder than cci stuff but still good. But tonight at canadian tire I bought some winchester 22 long cb match 29 grain solid in the silver box. theese things are even quiter than anything elese it was a noticeable diffrence. The price was $3.99 for 50 on par with the rest. And the best thing is being at canadian tire I. Can pick them up at anytime. They are too low powered for semi autos but they are a full length .22

Is the box code X22LRCBMA?

I picked up 2 different box's of 22 sub sonic's at Canadian Tire and neither of them are even close to being as quiet as CCI sub sonic.

dont go for subsonics, go for cb longs and ones advertised as quiet.
Does anyone have any grouping info? i think i did a few groupings with the cci cb longs a few years ago, but ya, a few years ago.

you guys do know there is no difference in the case length between a long and a long rifle only thing that makes it a long is the 29gr bullet

and the powder in a .22lr stops burning at about 16" so everything else after that starts slowing it down the cooeys are good for that but want even better put a 33 inch barrel on a .22 and with .22lr standard velocity its silent without a silencer

Actually in retrospect my stapler used for stapling my targets to the frame was louder than the ammo going off.

I shot a few groups this morning at 25 yards outta my Mark II G... with the "pencil barrel" had to load em 1 by 1 tho so i got bored quick. Heres some pics, (sorry they are so big, photobucket changed on me and I can STILL not figure out how to resize)

Bottom was 10 rounds, if you look close you can see some of these did not penetrate the 3/4 inch ply wood target was pinned to.

The top target was the BEST group ive actually ever had, 5 rounds.
The stray at the bottom of the top target, along with the bottom two targets belonged to my Glenfield 70 I was messing around with the same ammo.
The Glenfield did not cycle the bolt with the CCI CB longs. but it would cycle by hand after the shot, For some reason it was shooting about 6" low where u can see the Mark II
was just a little high, strange huh?

Well matt I think you are right on what the box said. I don t have a box to look at right now just be sure it says cb on the box
