Norinco T97 Non Restricted PRESALE!

HAHA what a terrible place for a safety, it's so not ergonomic. But I still pre-ordered one....

I think I read somewhere that the updated QBZ-95 moved the selector switch to above the pistol grip...among other changes. So, hopefully the t-97nsr has similar upgrades. If they ever make it past customs...

Do not praise it until you have shot it. It is a Norinco after all....

There will be LOTS of happy faces on CGN the day EE has good deals on non restricted T97 (provided the reviews are good).

Keep in mind for now there are only one source for them being North Sylva; Don't bother looking for them in the US. Folks have been waiting YEARS for a cheap bullpup. This baby is 1/3 of the price of a Tavor.

Does anyone have an idea of how long the RCMP generally take to decide these types of things? Any estimation as to when we might know the classification?

from their usual speeds, a new gun is 12-18 months. a gun they believe is prohibited, years to convince them otherwise.

i doubt this rifle will appear for sale any time soon.

AND that is why what you quoted included "(provided the reviews are good)"

NORC like many Chinese products are improving by leaps and bounce in a very short period of time. The 1911s, ARs and ammo are well complemented by CGN folks for value.

Let's all hope this the T97 is the good stuff; and that we'll see it in Spring :)

For the naysayers YES the loonie stuff is junk, thankfully you got what you paid for.

^By junk are you referring to operational issues like reliability, accuracy. Or cosmetic like finishing?

Gonna admit I like my 1911 SIG and S&W a lot more than the NORC. But if someone only had $350 and not $1300, NORC or nothing the recommendation is obvious.

Can't wait for the T97 comparison to the Tavor.

It felt cheap. It wasn't nearly as accurate as some of your other 'cheaper' AR's... it's a norinco... what more can I say.

However, burnaby does have a great point... if it's norinco or nothing, it's better to have norinco... but I've always been the type of person that if I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it right... even if it means waiting an extra few months for saving more towards a quality firearm.

I agree the finish isn't up to par at least on the ones Ive seen. But I have to say the one I tried had a free float rail along with magpul furniture and it shot very well. That hammer forged barrel did just fine in the accuracy department. I saw fireball shoot a 1 moa 5 round group at 100 meters with a cheap 3moa red dot and a Fabdefense gripbipod. It shot 55PMC bronze very well.

I hear the new ones have better finish. The Norc AR does a good job for it's price point.

That being said I based my pre order for the T97 on Clobbersaurus' reviews. From those reports the T97 has decent finish. Ergos suck but fit/finish and how it shoots is supposed to be very good. Should make a cool fun plinker.

I bought a Norc M305 last year and it gave me problems so i got rid of it, but that isn't going to stop me from buying this rifle. I have an AR for my "serious" rifle that i can take to the range. The T97NSR on the other hand is going to be perfect to taking to the cabin and shooting in the woods. I won't have to be worried about scratching the finish or being too rough with it. Fun rifle at a fun price, so as long as she functions well il be a happy camper.

Yup I have a couple of M305s and one was finicky. Once you work on them they are great. The other one was great out of the box and I still use it for hunting.

The Norinco AR on the other hand I have had several thousand rounds through it with no stoppages. Very accurate and I have beat a ton if guys at matches running very expensive ARs with it. Maybe I am just a better shot. :) One thing is for certain they are ultra reliable. Not just mine but everyone I have shot or anyone I have shot with who owns one says the same.

I have been told by a dealer that they are overbuilt and don't come back for repairs as much as most other brands. Sure if I had a choice to buy a Knights or Noveske for the same price I would but the Norinco AR is still very faithful.
