Updated! CZ 858 AK Style Project Complete! Now Updated With Pics!

Even though I'm not an owner of a CZ, this started off as a really interesting thread. People posting good info on their projects, pictures, knowledgeable/helpful advice, but there's always a few that spoil it along the way...Back off and just appreciate what other fellow gun owners/enthusiasts are doing.

I absolutely agree. Lets all just put our guns back in their holsters and carry on with the actual intent of the thread.

Alright!
Back from the dark province.
Got the stock set off the brother, oiled it up while down there. 5 coats of Boiled linseed oil later, still have another 3-4 to go I think but it looks so fackin' awesome I couldn't resist posting the pics!

Here she is all put together:

I talked to my brother extensively about producing them over a 26 ouncer of Russian vodka lolol
He came to the following conclusions:

1- They will be made out of Birch exactly like the ones he made me.
2- He will make the grip the same as the one pictured but about 1" longer than the standard grip.
3- The gas vent holes in the hand guards will be much smaller and closer to the center of the hand guards.
4- The full sets will come unstained so persons can stain them any way they want.
5- The price will be $250 for a complete set ready to drop right in compatible with 100% original CZ hardware that comes with every rifle. That's $250 no tax plus shipping to wherever
you are.

He will be making 15 sets complete which should be ready in about 2-3 months. He is taking pre-orders right now to gauge interest. No money will be taken until items are ready to ship.
Once the 15 are spoken for, that's it until he decides if there is enough interest to produce another run.

He said unfortunately to make them by hand, it is so time consuming and tedious that he can't justify his family life, career and making these for less than that price.
As you can see though, the work is precision and the results are breathtakingly awesome! :D

He makes these by hand using table saws, hand routers and sanding disks. Pretty hard core lol

Anyone interested can PM me for his contact info.

Cheers!

Looks fantastic man. Doing them by hand is very time consuming and still people dont understand why that price.
Good on you guys for doing it up still. Looks like my buddy has some competition on his hands now LOL.

Thank you Sir!

$250 isn't much considering they are original hand made and very high quality.

Some people want everything for nothing I guess.

It's not like there is anyone else pumping these out for $50 for mass consumption.

Your brother is approaching this in the right way. These need to be batched unless he likes working for $4/hr.

That's why he won't start until he gets enough orders, he says he'll start a run at minimum 7 out of 15.

He has to set up for production for a bunch at a time or else he can't justify the low cost of $250 for the time it will take him.

He said he is and would be honoured for gun nuts to want to have his work on their rifles.

There are two spoken for already actually! :S

Excellent job on the rifle, it shows the beautiful clean lines, and the contrasting rifle vs wood is very appealing. I have sent a PM to you Travis and will order a set. Again, excellent job by you and your Brother.

Those are great!

Whats the length of pull, is it the same as the factory CZ stock?

I'm not 100% sure what you mean but the pistol grip is much wider under the receiver without that wonky curve so the index finger would be further back from trigger than the standard grip. It feels more natural for sure to me anyway.

This was essentially the prototype lol The new ones will have longer grips but keep the same thickness and shape. It fills up the hand much better than the weird CZ grip.

What I mean is, is the shoulder stock the same length as the factory stock?

The color of the wood and that stain are perfect. Black and blonde. Looks great. Is there any way to get a cad file done up of these to look into production?

Awesome job on that stock set! The light wood is exactly what I want on my CZ. If I hadn't already talked to someone about a handguard set, I'd go with one of your sets. Very well done!!
