I would think atleast 550+ if not more.
Its a marlin,so take it from there.
Where do I look for that bullseye? Guessing that's PreRem?
Clint
On the bottom of thebutt stock.
You're right, a symbol starting, what, hundred plus yeas ago? and running until Rem time.
One of those in good condition would be a much better rifle than a new one.
Do you mean the litle White/Black one that is infront of the sling swivel on the butt stock?
The "bullseye check" doesn't work. I have a 336W that is pre Remington and it has no bullseye. The only sure way to tell, is if it has the "JM" stamp on the left side of the barrel near the receiver(like the above poicture). If so, it's pre Remington or at least the parts were made by Marlin. There are a few out there with the JM stamp that were sold after Remington's takeover, but still assembled by Marlin. If there's a "REP" on the barrel on the right side just infront of the ejection port, it's assembled and made by Remington.........avoid.
Nice. I think the bottom one is the first pic I've seen from you that doesn't have that moose medallion, you're slipping.Perhaps they should've stamped them "RIP". I checked the two I posted about earlier, both have the "JM" as well as the bullseye. My other Marlin, an old family heirloom, model 94 in 44-40 has none of the three IDs mentioned but has had a lot of use and many memories. And, a couple of shots of the 'Old Girl'
.

My 444P also has the JM and bullseye. I think all pre Rem Marlins with walnut had the bullseye, only the cheapo birch stocks like on my 336W didn't.
