Saw this recently on the Movie Training day. Liked the look of it. Anyone have and experience with this firearm? What is the value of one now?
and admittedly, haven't shot it much, yet.
.... saftey is a pain if you shoot from a holster (idpa) as it runs backwards to most...you need gorrilla long thumbs or use your off hand.
I started IPSC with the 4506. It has a BIG grip but you get used to it . The only problem with this model was the slide rails would crack from the front of frame back to the slide lock. I sent 2 back to the US for warrenty when we were allowed to without all then BS. When I contacted Smith about this problem, they said they knew about it and just send the frame back to be replaced. Great we have to reregisterthe next frame and cancell the one sent. It was apain in the but they replaced it. Then they made the slide rails thicker and I never had the problem again. It is a great gun feeds anyting you give it and was pretty accurate.
I think a lot of cops carried this pistol back in the day as well, which says good things about it's dependability.
What!?!? In IDPA (or any other action shooting sport for that matter) all you need to do is 'de-####' and then put the lever back in the 'fire' position before holstering (which is a perfectly safe procedure). Then just draw and fire the first round DA.
And then get a "failure to do right " penalty for not using a safety device. If the pistol is equipped with a safety, you have to use it. Otherwise i'd shoot my 4006 more often.
Sorry, but you're wrong. But that's OK; keep handicapping yourself unnecessarily. I'm sure those competing against you don't mind.![]()
