whats the real deal with lar-15 mags

It is not opinion.
Read the RCMP letter.

Look, Im probably going to grab some of these myself, however the use of "handgun magazine" and "magazines for this handgun" as well as "approved for use as handgun magazines for a handgun in Canada" and if they bear the markings of this magazine for common handguns in Canada...... It just sounds pretty specific that they are to be used in this "commonly used handgun in canada". Now like i said, im no law buff but if Ive missed something like maybe that this ruling maybe only pertains to the magazines themselves and this makes these magazines legal to stick where ever they will fit then..... I just really hate the way they write this stuff up, you know.

Yes, you've clearly missed something. Most of the discussion, in fact. It sounds like you've clearly convinced yourself that you can't have either the LAR-15's or the Beowulfs. I'm not trying to be harsh here, but there's really no other way to explain it beyond everything else that has already been mentioned. If you still can't find your way through to accepting these simple truths, maybe these just aren't for you.

I really don’t see why you are confused, the regulations are as clear as mud…

Former Cartridge Magazine Control Regulations
3. (1) Any cartridge magazine
(a) that is capable of containing more than five cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed and that is designed or manufactured for use in
(i) a semi-automatic handgun that is not commonly available in Canada,
(ii) a semi-automatic firearm other than a semi-automatic handgun,
(iii) an automatic firearm whether or not it has been altered to discharge only one projectile with one pressure of the trigger,
(iv) the firearms of the designs commonly known as the Ingram M10 and M11 pistols, and any variants or modified versions of them, including the Cobray M10 and M11 pistols, the RPB M10, M11 and SM11 pistols and the SWD M10, M11, SM10 and SM11 pistols,
(v) the firearm of the design commonly known as the Partisan Avenger Auto Pistol, and any variant or modified version of it, or
(vi) the firearm of the design commonly known as the UZI pistol, and any variant or modified version of it, including the Micro-UZI pistol; or
(b) that is capable of containing more than 10 cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed and that is designed or manufactured for use in a semi-automatic handgun that is commonly available in Canada.

Interpret it as you will, but the RCMP already has and you have a copy of that interpretation. Might as well make out like a bandit.

Dear anmckenn,
Ok, buy the 5 round rifle mags and leave the pistol mags for us.
Problem solved and have a good day.

Hmmm now anmckenn has me thinking about wether I should be using these in my rifle??? On a side note will the lar-15 mags be compatible with the new bull pup stock I ordered from red jacket? Lol yes boys it's Thursday, let's lock this one up.

Sniff sniff.

My T senses are tingling.....

You too?? I was wondering if I was the only one.

This is a classic case of someone being "so f'in dense that even a blackhole would pass up on it" ;)

and super back ordered :( #317 in line

That is just a general order number. The first 150 orders could have been for something else.

I ordered something, not mags. My order number was 470 something. The next 10 orders could be for parts or uppers, whatever. After that the next guy that orders Mags get a number 480.

It is NOT 480 something people waiting in line to get .50 mags. I laugh when I see that. I bet the actual number of guys ordering these is 100.

I really hope that's the case! Order #466.

Perhaps, only Armtac can confirm that. However, what we do know is that all of the magazine orders are limited to three (3) mags per person. Demand is high, and when these mags start showing up at ranges demand will get higher. Not everyone with a rifle capable of shooting .223 out of a STANAG mag haunts the black rifle section on CGN :D I'd be willing to bet that only a very small fraction of Canadian AR15 owners have even heard of a "50 Beowulf".

What non-restricted rifles actually for sale in Canada can these magazines be used in? There's the AR180B, but I can't find them listed for sale. There's the Tavor, but I can't afford one. What else takes a STANAG magazine that I don't have to get a restricted licence for?
