Shorten PAL Approval Times

The store you purchased from should call you to tell you can pick your guns up or if you bought online should ship them. Your CFO office should send out your certificates in the mail.
I'm waiting on a transfer for an M&P 22 as well, hopefully that one will come through next week. :)

Hmmm, must be related to the BC CFO office as I hear similar complaints about them. Transfers are taking anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks out here :p

It was a person to person sale from a fellow cgn member

good luck on your transfer

Do you have a reference number from when the other CGN member submitted the paperwork? If you do you can just call the CFC and tell them you're checking on a transfer and quote the reference number, they'll be able to tell you whether it's done or not. If it's done then you can get in touch with the seller and arrange shipment.

You can call the Alberta CFO and get your ATT processed by phone. They will email it to you and it will show your License number on the paper. The CFC would not give out my number by phone so the CFO/ATT process is an easy way to get it. You will need an ATT soon anyway.
Awhhhhh very smart indeed.
Meant to stop by pnd to see that mk3 today but ran out of time will do tomorrow.
I am really leaning toward the mp for the look and feel.

I do have the reference numbers, called today and guess what no its not done but i was told they are running 1 MONTH behind!!! Wow i cant believe there's that many firearms being transferred. Good thing i'm not in that much of a hurry lol! She asked me me if it was a store or personal sale, in the end guess its not that bad at least i am saving the damn HST from a store bought gun! Another thing i did is setup the Temp ATT to pick up one of the firearms as the other will be mailed out to me.

Seems most CFO's are a month behind. To my knowledge these backlogs have occurred since the end of the Long Gun Registry. So was staff cut with the expectation of reduced workload or has registration of restricted actually increased with the demise of the LG Registry? Perhaps both? It would be very interesting to get the workload volume numbers from the CFO's from a year ago until now. These delays in public service processing time are unsatisfactory and everyone impacted should be calling / writing their MLA to complain.

I will definitely be doing some emailing to voice my opinion, first time i buy something and have to wait that long to be able to pick it up or have it delivered, the problem i think lies in the fact that there is sooooo much duplication.

Like i said before why does my safety test scores have to go to CFO then to me then to RCMP, they do all the "preliminary" paperwork, then it goes back to CFO for license approval then back to RCMP to print the license. And thats just for the RPAL's no wonder they are so far backlogged :)

I called yesterday, nothing, then just now:

"Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date."

I just did a small happy dance. Isn't there supposed to be a time where it is processing?

Congrats!
You can probably call next Monday or Tuesday and do your interviews if you applied for an Rpal, then get your references call as well. If thats allready done then sit back and wait :) its almost over!
A few more weeks and it will change to the magic words 'license issued"

WOW 9 months? was there anything missing on the app? OR was there anything they had to investigate? Mine took 41 days and was issued, this in for Ontario though, was mailed out on the 4th Jan so maybe this week in my mailbox?

It got passed on to the Chief firearms officer or whatever for review, they said there was an incident they looked into but still shouldnt take 9 months! i could have had a baby before i got my PAL!

Yes these days it's exactly the same process for R and NR...that's why so many people just get both done in the one agonizing application process

Really? I was pretty sure it was only a restricted application that required references. Almost seems pointless to have non-restricted licensing if that's the case.

Well it would seem they're about as far behind as the BC CFO, that sucks!
I'm impressed that they allowed you to set up a short term ATT before your transfer is even complete, I got my long term ATT while the transfers were in progress but was told I couldn't get a short term to pick up the gun until the transfer was complete.
I have a feeling it all depends on who you happen to get on the phone though. For instance I was told that a Short Term ATT is good for a period of 30 days, so you can pick up your gun and transport it to your home at anytime during the 30 days listed, it's good for the one trip and then void.
Today I called to set up a STATT to pick my CZ up from the Post Office in case my husband isn't home when it's delivered tomorrow, it's only good for one day, Friday. WTH??

How long is your Temp ATT good for?

Gotta love Alberta. I got my test results ready to go from my instructor, too.

Yep, BC is the same, you get your exam results from your instructor before you leave so you can mail everything off the very next day.

I thought only an RPAL required an interview with the applicant and references?!
