Didn't know how to title the thread exactly.

Have been thinking of selling my AR kit (LMT MRP/two uppers/Leupold MR/T scope/cartridges/accessories/etc.) to a good friend but am having second thoughts due to what is happening in The States, AR-15s doubling & tripling in price if not sold-out, PMAG panics, shortages of .223 cartridges, etc.

Given that one doesn't need the money, would it be a good idea to keep this stuff in the event it becomes hard to get any of this stuff in the future and perhaps for no other reason ultimately. Will quality AR-15s and associated products/accessories potentially become essentially collectors items and increase drastically in monetary "value" for those who have them?

Could they try to pull the same thing up here and eventually re-classify AR-15 as prohibited? Pardon the "conspiracy theorist's" approach to this but all it would take is a little "incident" somewhere involving and AR and it would be University of Montreal on steroids.

Very interested to hear thoughts on this from the forum.

Thanks and best regards.

I think you pretty much answered your own question.

Ar15 are no tripping in prices in the States...they are doubling.

And in Canada, the prices of Ar15 are the same. I have talked to a US manufacture and they stated that their price of Ar15 depend on the market in Canada..not the States.

Thanks but hopefully you can humor a dummy like me... Do you share these sentiments to one extent or another and consider these concerns valid? Thank-you sir.

Not a good topic to post as a newbie, not to mention it is treading on tinfoil hat territory.

Sorry, I had no intention of ruffling any feathers but am curious why being a n00b would matter as these are becoming serious issues down South at least from what I gather. I realize everyone is in a bit of a holding pattern dependent on gov policy but as ARs are popular just thought people would have interesting opinions. Doesn't most of Canadian supply of these rifles come from the U.S?

Anyway, thanks for the comments everyone.

Please forgive any connotational references to any implied conspiracy theories. I'm interested in the future of ARs in Canada and still look forward to more opinions if anyone feels like banging-off a few words.

Thanks again all and best regards.

The reason why the comment was made is because we see far too many (not so covert) anti-gun lobbyists and people trolling for a reaction then we'd like on CGN, especially in the Black Rifle section.

Thanks for that, I'll keep it in mind.

However you can bet that the quantities shipped to Canada are directly dependant on the price in the Excited States.

You may be right, but I doubt it. I cant see most manufacturers signing up for that kind of a deal. Remember, we are a nothing market wrt to their home market. Even if that were the case, I think the quantities would need to be in the thousands if not the tens of thousands for it to even pique a manufacturers interest.

Let me paint a little picture of the worst case scenario here in Canada… Something that I don’t believe we will see in the near future, or for that matter I hope never, but you asked… Say a “little incident” happened as you put it and the AR-15 lands on the prohibited list. Now I am sure the powers at be would go out kicking and screaming insuring no one would get grandfathered but even if they did the market in Canada would immediately shrink to almost nil. Think, there would only be so many people with prohib status and that number would continue to shrink, as fewer and fewer people could possess one supply would go through the roof and demand would hit rock bottom, same as just about any prohib currently… so where does that put the value of your AR-15?

But I digress, you might as well of asked what my opinion on the price of gold or oil is currently… really I have no idea what will happen… and I really don’t see any point in fretting over it right now… things will probably be back to normal in a few months, when the demand goes back to normal, and of there is a large market shift I doubt anyone here will be able to reliably predict it right now.
