Remington has started to deliver its long awaited 700 SPS TAC in .300 Blackout in the US. It would be a great compliment to you guys already shooting the Blackout in AR's or anyone looking for .30-30 Win. ballistics out of a bolt gun. Not sure when they'll hit Canadian gun stores but it doesn't hurt to make inquiries if this interests you.

I am begging for that to be avail. in 7.62x39!

.300 BLK is basically the same ballistics but more versatile. Especially in a bolt gun. The main marketing efforts of AAC have been in the AR platform. However, there's been a number of firearms manufacturers who are comming on board with non semi-auto options.

Did you guys know that Kel Tec is putting out the SU16 in a 300BLK? I just found that out today. Different style of gun, I know, but still non restricted!

300 BLK is a better round. I have worked with both extensively and wouldn't go back to the 762

Doesn't matter to me if the round is "better" or not... all my 7.62x39's will still put holes in paper & destroy produce in the woods just as good if you ask me.
No need for a "better" cal.
But hey... you are communicating with a guy who still likes push buttons on his flip phones instead of waiting in lineups to get the latest & greatest.
Like I say... I'm begging for them to have this in a 7.62x39

300 BLK is better than 762x39 because it is more versatile and easy to load for. It has a larger and more readily available variety of components. It is more compatible with current firearms due to a common bolt face size.

In just about every way it is easier to live with and load for.

All sounds good to me & I am glad you prefer it..., but ok, Just to be clear; I am not comparing what one is "better", because the .300 will WIN! The point is that I don't care & hope/beg, that it is avail. in x39 cal. (orig. post to this thread)
Simple as that.

Not exactly the same but Savage has their Scout in 7.62x39 with a shortish barrel (20") and a DM.

I've looked into those & the price seems a little high for a Savage! The Cz 527 Carbines are tempting as well at a 18.5" barrel for almost the same price with better quality & wood if you ask me.
(I have a 452 Varmint in .17hmr & have sold Brno's in the past)

The 16.5"ers by Rem. in the 7.62 though... oooooHHHH! (prices fair of course)

What does one do with a 300 BLK?

It puts holes in things... just like any firearm does with any diameter chunk of metal. But marketing, & advertising combined with enthusiasm & hype gets peoples juices flowing, then before you know it... they are (the people/general gun community) are convinced that it is the best bullet to put holes into things!
After that... the $ flows!

EDIT:

With that said... maybe one should start a thread of.... "If There Was Only One Caliber What Would It Be & Why?"

I cannot speak for Suputin but I will say this. It's not like he's being a "fanboi" of the .300 BLK. He cut his teeth on exploring the versatility of the 7.62x39mm cartridge in subsonic applications many years ago and has documented it all on an older web site he created. Perhaps, you are not aware of his work in this area? His opinions aren't based on something he read online or in a magazine. He's making his opinions based on the knowledge of having BTDT.

If subsonic 7.62x39mm applications interest you, then check out Suputin's work found here...

What does one do with a 300 BLK?

Both the .300 BLK and 7.62x39mm have similar or identical ballistics to the .30-30 Winchester with supersonic applications in mind. No one in their right mind would argue a .30-30 has little or no benefit.

The Blackout is a small yet highly efficient case design and is arguably a more versatile cartridge in a manual repeating firearm compared to semi-autos chanberred for it. With the .308 bore diameter you have a vast bullet selection available. I'm in the process of buying some 90gr. XTP's and already have a 245gr. cast lead bullet mold waiting to be used.

Sur eit makes holes, but is the attraction that it is easy to make subsonic?

Yes, that's one additional advantage one has IF they choose to persue to do so, however, it's a secondary consideration. AAC introduced the cartridge with marketing emphasis on its use in semi-autos and the vast majority of users in these firearms are using supersonic ammunition for reliable cycling and 7.62x39mm performance.

It all depends on an individual's intended usage.

I Would buy it.....If it was made by Savage

Buy a Shilen pre-fit barrel in .300 BLK and have at it. Pick any contour and rate of twist you prefer and your off and running.
