Didn't they do away with the ledgers? I know they were talking about it coming up at a local retailer's soon after C-19, but my last non-restricted purchase was a private sale from a fellow club member. In any case, I see this developing in 2 possible ways:

1) Non-restricted, no issues

2) Too easily converted to baby-killing full auto - it only took our team of 6 gunsmiths 2 months to give it selective fire capabilities
 
yea... they really dont want an affordable black rifle on the market particularly the t97 with its history, however in light of what wanstalls has said, I am crossing my fingers.

supposedly the classification should be out soon... whoever has access to the FRT sheet should be checking it hourly :p
 
I would like to know about the safety as well. That positioning is horrible.

I checked out this video on youtube of someone firing a type97. Note that he is using P-mags when I hear they are not compatible. Someone asked about it and was told that Gen 3 Pmags DO work in the type-97. Good news?

Any know if the thread for the muzzle break/flash hider is the same thread as an ar15? Im assuming someone from the last batch would have tried to change it.

So is an XCR, Sub2K, Mini, CZ/CSA, Swiss, JRcarbine, Thureon Defense, to name some. Nothing makes the Type 97 standout against some of those mentioned.

Honest question, not being cheeky. If you have to choose a non-restricted 5.56 semi to take to a match, and the design of the stages give 10rd (or more) mags a significant advantage. Which black gun would you take? And why?

For my part id take the swiss arm its the best out of this lot overall quality and performance sad that it is so expensive. My 2 cents

It's a bullpup.
It costs a third what a Swiss or XCR does.



If you don't want one, don't buy it. There is no point in bashing something you have no vested interest in.

Would you care to substantiate that?
"Pure garbage" is a rather strong statement in regards to any firearm, and in general not something i've come to expect to hear aimed towards ruger and their product.

I know that the early generations had plenty of problems, linked to the pencil thin barrels they chose to put on them to keep with the rifle being marketed as a very light grab and go "ranch rifle" (as they call the newer models) type firearm.

However from what I understand, and have seen personally while handling a "target" model, this has long been remedied. The barrel is nice and heavy, to a fault actually as it adds quite a bit of weight, but the issues the older minis were having are now completely remedied from what i've heard.




On another topic, i'm excited about the T97 coming to Canada again but after having some lulz at the picture on the font page I still place the Tavor ahead of it on my "want to buy" list. I'll be very interested in seeing a side by side comparison in the near future and the TAR-21 is a very similar platform and the closest existing analog.
 
Nothing makes it stand out? Really? First off, you should be happy there are more guns coming into canada.

With that said, what does it have over those guns you named? First thing I think of is price point vs similar caliber rifles. Second, and probably the biggest factor for me is OAL. The XCR, Swiss ect are large, large guns in comparison to this. I am extremely excited for this gun and would like to compare it with the Tavor side by side.

I think the general expectation is that the Tavor will win in all categories except price. The T97 is within reach for more people. I'd be very surprised if the the Tavor was not more accurate, better made and more attractive. That's why it's 3 grand. It will be interesting to see if the US made Tavor can be more competitive in price.

Has there been actual comparison done between the Tavor and T97NSR trigger pull yet? Accuracy is a little speculative at this point.
