So is an XCR, Sub2K, Mini, CZ/CSA, Swiss, JRcarbine, Thureon Defense, to name some. Nothing makes the Type 97 standout against some of those mentioned.

Honest question, not being cheeky. If you have to choose a non-restricted semi to a match, and the design of the stages give 10rd (or more) mags a significant advantage. Which black gun would you take? And why?

I'll be very interested in seeing a side by side comparison in the near future and the TAR-21 is a very similar platform and the closest existing analog.
I think the general expectation is that the Tavor will win in all categories except price. The T97 is within reach for more people. I'd be very surprised if the the Tavor was not more accurate, better made and more attractive. That's why it's 3 grand. It will be interesting to see if the US made Tavor can be more competitive in price.
