Brush rifle in 308, best of both world....

With the scarce time we are living, i am motivating myself with some projects, this time i wanted to assemble a light, yet powerfull 0-250 metres brush rifle.... Started with a brand new Ruger American in 308, added a brand new M-223 1X4X24 Nikon Point blank scope ( great fast aquisition reticule ) and brand new Millet rings, so this gave a rig that is 7 pounds with scope in a powerfull caliber and with a very fast aquisition scope still very good up to 250 metres, here a few picture of my car trunk rig... I will not reload for that rifle, since i have over 600 Nosler Accubond 165 gr 308 rounds, i will use that hard hitting and accurate ammo for it... JP.
 
Six hundred rounds..............yer awesum........

What would it take to take the training wheels off that trigger?
They make an after market one?

It is to my surprise a very crisp trigger, i adjusted it (very easy) just south of 3 pounds (45 ounces), for an entry level rig it is a great trigger... JP.

Also, when 600 rounds is gone, does it become a lamp? That would be a cool lamp.

I will shoot it a couple of times, maybe kill a bear or a deer with it an then, one of my grandson will ask me, grandpa i like this rifle can i have it, and i will give it to him... JP.
 
This American is a pretty small and light rifle and the M-223 has a one X, for me it qualify as a brush gun... Jp.
 
To me a "bush rifle" is a lever, pump, semi-auto. I thought the scope interesting at a 1 to 4 but it has the big turret sticking up that sort of says "this is a precision interment".

It is great to be able to make a good precise shot at 250 meters. And it is great to be able to make 2 or 3 quick accurate shots at a bounding white-tail at 40, 50, 60 yards.

Not saying I don't like that rifle, she's a beaut. But I like my Savage 99 in .300 sav. for my "bush rifle"
 
I think this rifle is a good compromise between both option, i wont usually put such a low powered scope on a 308... JP.
 
At least this Ruger American make it easy to respect the saying, it is a good thing to put a scope of equal value to get the full potential of the rig... JP.
 
Nice rifle JP... I am sure that it will serve your purposes perfectly... and .308 is a very nice caliber... it will do anything you ask of it... especially when you run through those 600 rounds and start reloading.
 
Why does a brush gun need to be a lever, pump, or semi-auto? Does that make the bullet less prone to deflection? Or do some people just need quick second, third and fourth shots because they feel shot placement doesn't matter when not in open country? Sheesh
