Sent this picture to Boomer earlier today. Got to thinking that it might be nice if we all shared a bit of our personal experience from "back then". Here's one of mine.

Untitled-7.jpg

Was guiding the chairman of the board of Mobil Oil on a sheep hunt, about ten miles off Kluane Lake in the Ruby Range in 1973. He shot a huge, broomed-off old ram after a snow storm. He was a fine guy, and we stayed in touch for a long time.

Those were the days..........

Looking forward to seeing some of yours,
Ted

All of my cool pictures from those years were lost, but some of you older guys must have some squirreled away that you can scan and post. Most of my hunting/wanderings in those days were a solo affair, and I seldom had a camera with me anyway.

and it's not "older"....it's 'mature'........:p

Our house burnt to the ground in '81 and we lost pretty much everything. I wish I still had all those things that can never be replaced, such as pictures.

Great idea for a thread Ted and great picture. I have hunting pictures for my screen saver and I think you should repost one of yours that I use. It's a classic, the one of you running Three Mile Rapids.

I have a couple of old pictures that I've posted on previous threads. One of my Dad, hunting in the 30's

and the second, from about the same era, of a couple from Barkerville and the lady in the photo was well known for her successful Grizzly hunting, using a 99 Savage in 22 Savage High Power.

One of the earliest I have is from a trip Sylvia & I made to our cabin at Bowron Lake in the interior and my last Moose hunt with my Dad in '71. We met Mum & Dad there and I took our GS Pointer for afternoon bird hunts. I was using my 1st Marlin 444S and was disappointed with the performance of the 240gr Remington factory ammo.

The rifle is Husqvarna 4100 in 30-06 with a Leupold 3X. Carried it loaded with 180 Partitions, and always had a few Barnes 250 gr round nose in my pocket.

Still have that box of 250 gr ammo, loaded with 4831. There is about 13 or 14 left. :)

What creek/drainages were you up was guiding in that area in 82/83

Is that Viggo Mortensen is the black shirt?

Nope,:)yours truly at about age 24. Oh, and the rifle my Dad in that picture has, a model 4000 Husqvarna light weight in 30-06. It's the rifle I used on my first Alberta Mule Deer hunt on draw in the next photo, hunting with my Daughter:D. A few photos,;) a little closer to what exists today:p.

And, again from that first photo, in addition to inheriting his rifle, I also have his coat and hat which I used on my second Alberta Mule Deer hunt:).

While it's not me, this picture hangs in a special place above my reloading bench.

In the middle is Elwood Epps and his wife Isabelle (Thanks Ted) and on the right is my Great Grandpa (Tom Allen) with his .35 Whelen that's still in use today. We never found out who the person on the left is.
