Shorten PAL Approval Times

Is it kosher to have both my references call at once with me present? We all attend the same university, so I can call on my cell and hand off the phone as needed.

Should be no problem i think one of the questions is "are you able to talk freely", i am sure they would prefer having one phone call instead of 3 different ones, make sure you tell your references it is for target/sport shooting that you are applying, and no joking around about the answers just answer yes or no. no stories :)

Perfect, thank you.

Just got off the phone with the On cfo's office today. My app has been with the Cfo office for 2+ weeks for final approval. Was told today it will be another 3 weeks before it is approved. Day 50 now. major sad face :(

same here...interviews were done early january, Ontario CFO has had it since then...still nothing, called yesterday...they said give it a few weeks. not sure if they meant printing/mailing or issuing PAL #...first post says PAL # can be issued over the phone, did you ask about that?

If my online application status says "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number.", does that mean it's been mailed, or could have been forwarded to CFO and still awaiting approval?

It has been issued and is in the process of being printed and mailed to you.
If not received within two weeks (of this date) please contact etc......

In other words, "it's in the mail". Not a "cheque is in the mail" :)

Ive heard that they will issue the pal# over the phone at the cfo office however, I believe that's only when the application shows up as issued and while waiting for the card in the mail. Gotta keep myself busy so Im not looking online for my app everyday lol.

gotchya...cause i called on monday and they said it'll be a few more more weeks...it's been well over 45 days and the interviews were done around the 30 day mark...seems like it's just in pile awaiting signatures, and it shouldn't be long, but a few weeks, they must have a rather substantial pile...cheers, good luck with yours...i'll post up when i get mine...

After the license is "issued" you can call the Ont CFO and they will give you your Rpal number. Cant really buy anything from the store as they want your card but online there is no problem. Also when it says issued it could be another week before printing and then it gets mailed out.

Sending Applications Early?

Greetings everyone... just a quick question about sending the application in before test results are received.... can I send the application before I take the course/challenge the test or should I at least wait until the the test is behind me? I am taking the course this weekend and wanted to send the application in tomorrow to get things started in terms of the waiting period.

BTW, this is a great forum and a huge wealth of information.

Thanks.

you can but do NOT fill out the section on the application where it asks for proof attached.

honestly I'd wait and know for sure that it wont cause more complications, they are so backed up right now it could get put into the missing information pile and then they'd have to sift through the giant pile of mail for the rest when it finally gets to them.

just wait and send it all together imo.

The only thing it does is start the 28 day clock, as stated they are so backlogged it prb wont make a big difference. I heard 6 weeks to get the stamp from CFO so the app will most likely get bogged at the RCMP. Its up to you, i sent mine without but this was back in November.

Still waiting and called the CFC again today and asked to be put through to the CFO for BC. I didn't get the CFO, just one of their other clerks not in the BC office...Told her its been with the CFO for 4 weeks and she told me to give it another couple of weeks and call in again if the status doesn't change.
Why do they give a timeframe of 45 days if they are actually going to take 3+ months?
