Shorten PAL Approval Times

My pal took 3 weeks to show up online. Received by CFC 8-Nov-12.

Finally today I got: "Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued." Woot! Now just a wait for my physical card. Whew. It really didn't take "that" long to get it. But the main wait is finally over. 2 Months, 9 Days from Receipt to Issue. Mailbox to Mailbox? I'll let you know when it's finally here.

Congratulations...it's amazing how we dance in the streets after being treated to such bad service from our government

License arrived today! I celebrated by hitting up the range and shooting some .22.

Thanks for all the help and info and good luck to all that are waiting.

Thanks ! I want to call the CFO so bad but i'm afraid they might hear my small english accent and drop me to the bottom of the pile lol.

Actually, that's what I finally did. I just asked politely if it was possible to follow up with the CFO's office. They forwarded me to them. I spoke with them in the office, they gave me an extension but told me they'd call me back. They called me back two days later, asked me a few questions and approved me on the phone.

I just called the Quebec CFO they were quite nice. Told me all that is needed before they approve is for my ex to call in. Fingers crossed she does do me that favour. Wondering tho what happens if she refuses too ? Just out of spite or something.

How long did the cfo have it before you called? Mines been their for a little over a week still nothing. Called them Wednesday to ask if they required anything else from me, they said they had everything they needed. Wouldnt process it for me.

Mines been with the QC CFO 2 weeks and was told they just needed to speak to the ex before approving it.

I got her to call in, both her and I were told that this was all that was needed for them to approve. It's been a few hours now and no status change on the site is this normal ?

congrats....you did some gun shopping on the way to the range I presume

Yes I did :) picked up a new savage mark II, 500 rounds and a year membership to the VFGPA. It was a toss up between the savage and a marlin, but the savage was a fair bit lighter, and it was made in Lakefield Ontario :)

Haha that status website is driving me nutz!!

I also had mine tracked. They received my application on December 24th. It seems most people had their status show up online after about 20 days so I decided to phone today - nada, nothing entered into the system yet - but they do assure me they enter them in order received!

It is hard not to be frustrated by the process - if they really are so short staffed then add $10 to the fee per person and hire some more clerks.

My application showed that it was delivered to the CFC on Dec 21st (thanks canada post tracking) and I'm on day 27 and still no information is popping up online. Will calling do any good or is this one of the stages where you have to sit on your hands and "try" waiting patiently

I called Miramichi and asked to be transferred to the Quebec CFO, then a few hours later I was interviewed (and so were my 2 references)!

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number.
