I'm sure this has been hashed out many time but I'm very interested in see what people have to say. I'm looking at the Benilli Super Black Eagle II and the Super Vinci also I have been looking at Beretta's A400 Xtreme. What are you guys shooting and why?

Had A400. Just sold it. Had Benelli inertia system before it, sold it too. Now about why...
1. A400 is a sweet shooter, especially if it has the kickoff system in place. The kickoff though is one of the things I didn't like about it. The goes back and forth in the buttplate so you cannot firmly push it next to your shoulder without some strange feeling movements inside. That threw me off. Also, if you don't load your shell properly in the magazine tube (don't push it all the way through), it will fall out under the bolt and caused a misfeed a few times.
2. Benelli inertia system is good for hunting loads, not for light loads though. Jammed on me regularly. Also some type of shells they don't like. Federal in my case because of the ribbed shells. The thing is that the magazine carrier latch catches on the ribbed shell and the shell is stuck half way out of the mag causing a misfeed. Also the recoil is punishing. I had my shoulder bruised badly. I put the new KeckEzz recoil pad on it and it started jamming every second time!!! Because the recoil was not enough to operate the action.

I am just curious--what in your opinion works? You say Baikal is no good, the 1187 jams all the time, the Benelli jams and the A400 jams/misfeeds. Is there a semi-auto that does work?

I shoot an old Beretta A303 that has functioned very well for me and my 2 hunting buddies each have the Benelli SBEII. The SBEs both function with light loads even the Wally world specials right up to the 3.5" steel. The only issue with either gun was that after 7 years the recoil spring in the one Benelli needed replacing which solved a cycling problem. I have no experience with the others but if I were looking for a new all round semi the SBEII would be a major contender.

If I had to own just one semi it would be a browning maxus since it works well, fits me right and will save a few hundred hard earned dollars over the purchase price of some of the other B guns. I have a A400 also and my bud shoots the S black eagle so have fired his quite a few times but will still go with the browning.Just my 2 cents

So your are saying Benelli shotguns will only work with a smooth hull??? Damn...there must be a lot of hunter out there shooting duck and geese with Winchester AA target loads if that is the case...but then again you said they don't cycle light loads...oh...I know...the guys must be bating all those birds out of the air with their Benellis!!! LOL!

Shot and owned quite a few semi's as far as shotguns go over the years and worked on many more.
The only semi so far I could not get to cycle properly was a new 1187 super mag. It was one of the first ones made and even after they added that add on gas kit or what ever they called it still no way. Maybe they are better today I don't know since I never wanted to look or own one again after that thing I had. Had a few of the 3" 1187 in fact still have a sporting model and those were all fine.

I have had an 1187 3" for 6 years now and there have been no problems.

I think probally 75% of the problems I have seen with semi's are the owners not taking care of them or feeding them real trash shells. I'll see a post have not cleaned it in 2000 rounds. WHAT??
My 3" 1187 were fine also but I could not get that 3 1/2 f'er to work right. You seem to work on a lot also what do you find???

As far as the OP's post they are all good guns from my experience with them so pick what fits and you like if you are stuck on one of those three. Yes there is a problem out there with some A400's and 3 1/2 " but I think it is a simple fix if it happens to occur.

I shoot a Baikal for waterfowl. It workes period. I have an 1100 in a sheet gun (my daughter inlaw has it rite now ) and an 1100 mag that my son likes. I just got a Benelli super sport for clays. All work great. Each fall 5 friends come up from the states to hunt with us. That is 7 semis, guns shoot & birds fall. Find one that fits and in joy. AJ.

Personally my vote goes to the super Vinci hands down!!! I've had all of the big name semis in the past year and for me the Vinci and super Vinci always come out on top!

I have both a Beretta A400 and AL391. I've put tons of different rounds through them ( cheap target loads, expensive target loads, duck/goose loads ) and i've never had a single problem. Your gonna have the odd hang up once in a blue moon in any semi. If you can buy a semi that will never have a jam up.. BUY IT !! LOL

I'm sure the Benellis are amazing guns aswell, I just love my Berettas too much! Go check both of them out. See what one fits your shoulder the best, whats the most comfortable. Base your decision on that. All three guns you listed are great guns. So worry less and hang ups and stuff like that and see what fits ya.

Beretta, Benelli, both great guns. Buy the one that fits you better as they do have very different feels to them. I have owned Auto 5's, 11-87, AL 391, and now a Benelli. The 11-87 was junk but then again allot cheaper to buy also. I love the simplicity and reliability of the Benelli and really it was that big fat pistol grip of the Beretta that i didn't bond with. It was still an excellent gun. One size does not fit all, try and handle them at the same time wearing what you would if hunting.
