Now I want some because some wonk at a desk says I can't.

What does this mean ? "The CGP has the authority to inspect registered companies to ensure compliance"
If not registered you can't be touched?

Who can be excluded or exempted from registration? To be excluded from registration, you must be employed by a Canadian federal, provincial or territorial government, a federal Crown Corporation, be a public officer as defined by the Criminal Code or a member of a visiting force as listed in the Visiting Forces Act and deal with controlled goods in the performance of your official duties.

I knew working for Canada Post would have some added benifits one day! :yingyang:

That whole thing is one big F^%$ing joke.

Pay attention to this slight of hand.

If they can call an article of clothing "Controlled Goods" then why not firearms?

I wouldn't be so quick to go and register without thinking of the ramifications of agreeing to this process.

So are they going to go after the :

-bull riders (or rough stock rodeo events in general) that use them
-the many people that wear them when they ride their motorcycle

Does a having a PBR card work as an requirement to have one. ;)

Even if you have the current requirement to have one, how they hell would they know if your requirement changed.

WTF once again stupidity at the highest level and punishment of the law abiding citizen.

Pretty sure no gang member is going to apply to get one, they will just get one illegally anyway just like they do firearms.

Yeah all citizens are now assumed to use body armour to rob banks and such. Freaking ridiculous if you ask me, just another way to take protection away from the common man because civilized people do not need body armour. Sure glad I do not work as an armoured car guard anymore sure the business can have it but what if the company you work for requires you to have your own because they are to cheap to fork out for Armour I guess you are on your own. Note this crap happened in response to those idiots that shot up a bank in the US and then had a hour long fire fight because the cops had nothing that could penetrate the armour.

Think you better read that again the last part is the important part "and deal with controlled goods in the performance of your official duties." That is not just for the visiting forces my friends that is for all of you. You do not qualify unless you are a cop, military or own a business and you have a requirement to have it.

Dude, i wondered when this was going to hit the fan....the provincial laws and exemptions for security and professionals requiring BA are not exempted by the federal regulations for CGD. This is a huge huge huge issue. Tax dollars etc. The costs of being registered relate to sale and even possession know. Call me later or text me if you want to get together and I will show you what i have.

It is going to get way worse. even companies that buy it cannot give it to their employees under this law. It is very very bad.

The way that reads, my tomtom is a controlled good, and I have been in violation for years. This is far more stringent than even our firearms licensing and storage laws, and body armour hasn't ever killed anyone to my knowledge.

All goods on that list are "for EXPORT" outside of Canada.

Even their own wording is not clear. They state "within Canada" but the items listed are in the export section.

This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but with paperwork.

One more example of unelected, non-responsible bureaucrats expanding their purview with no control over their actions. This is the world that the Liberals, NDP and Green Party want us all to live in. Just relax and trust the government, everything will be just fine. I'm so sick of not having a say in my own life.

This is kinda sad. Stupid laws.

There's tons of body armour for sale in CANADA on EBAY --- I feel bad for you guys, you should be allowed to sell it.. IF people on EBAY.CA are allowed, why the hell can't you? It's honestly pathetic. Double standard.. This pisses me off.
