I was thinking about picking up a 1960 POF from a cgn sponsor.
What can I expect from the rifle?
Will it be close to the quality of my 1943 Maltby? Better maybe?
Accuracy? Fit and finish?

Thanks!

Dave

Any "mummy's" ? How much?

No mummies but the early ones were extremely clean to say the least.

The one I bought, right after he and Tradex first brought them in was 98% throughout.

One thing though, the bore in mine measures out at .310. It shoots .311 bullets very well. The rifle shoots better than I can hold it. It's smooth as glass and the stock is some of the straightest, darkest, heaviest Circassian Walnut Ive seen on any No4.

The Pakistanis didn't cut any corners or spare any expense to get them right the first time.

I'm really surprised those rifles are still available. They are jewels.

They are very well made but have been through some trauma. Mine looked like it was dipped in linssed oil & left to dry. It took hours to get that stuff of the metal just so the bolt would cycle normaly & the stock needed a repair to tighten up one side of the draws. Shoots very well though. Be aware that should you decide to sell it you will lose your shirt. Rare varient but nobody seems to care.

Riflechair's former rifle is one of the better ones I have seen. I bought mine shortly after he posted his review.

The early ones that Tradex, P&S and others were selling, were much cleaner than Riflechair's example.

I suspect there aren't a lot of them left and what is left are likely the worst of the lot as far as furniture and finish go.

The internals are likely to be quite good.

Riflechair was one of the first ones purchased as was mine 2008. I have had that thing for five years, seems like yesterday.

The stock on the '59 POF I just got was grungy but I would say in some ways it is better than the one on RifleChair's, based on the photos. Mine is more worn mechanically though, and has a few more replacement parts on it. Still clearly very well made.

The one I am looking at is actually in better external shape than what Riflechair started with and is listed as having a VERY GOOD bore. It's 359 +. What do you guys think?

Quit procrastinating and buy it.

These things have likely seen some combat and are undiscovered jewels as far as Lee Enfields are concerned. Both Indian and Pakistani made Lee Enfields are as good as any out there. A lot of them have seen combat and the markings on their receivers and stocks are full of history.
