Hey guys,

A buddy of mine picked up an ISSC mk22 (Scar Clone) that looks great handles nice but is incredibly unrealiable. It has constant fail to fire issue. At best maybe 6 or 7 shots before a fail to fire. After doing some research ISSC's solution is to put a washer on the one tension screw which will solve the problem...wrong. The firing pin reset spring is over-built IMO and is a major part of the problem. I've read that other shooters have removed up to 5 coils out of the spring. Even after doing this I'm still having difficulty trying to get this thing to run. The firing pin safety was also removed as I thought it may be causing a bit of friction against the firing pin preventing it from striking with full force. Still, the best I can get out of it is about 6 rounds before a failure. The hammer seems to be dropping with enough force but I'm thinking about blocking the end of the firing pin spring to give it a bit more force or just keep removing coils from the return spring....it still seems a bit beefy.

I'm just curious to know if anyone elses is shooting one of these? What issues they encountered and how were they corrected. I'm shocked at the amount of work that's been put into this gun for the amount of money they are worth.

I don't own one and never will. My buddy has one also and I couldn't get through a magazine without issue. I don't know what the answer is, but I suspect throwing it in the river is a good start. :)

Read a ton of internet stuff about how crummy these were. Ok thats one thing.

Until I actually came by first hand evidence that these things are total pieces of garbage. I vote the river option

You are on the right track for repairs. My first question is what ammo are you using? I have had a lot of problems with some brands of ammo that made dialing in this rifle difficult. I use cci blazer at this point and it loves it. I would not trim any more off your firing pin return spring, 4 was enough for me. While you were in the BCG did you stone the firing pin? that was the one that really made a difference on my rifle. There is another forum that goes over all the steps, with pictures, and people that will actively help to make this rifle reliable. Not just tell you to throw it in the river. PM me and I will let you know. I would try and help you out here, but because I cant post pictures ( I dont like the photo sharing website thing ) It would not be as helpful.

I have one with roughly 3500 rounds through it, and it runs like a top with any standard or high-velocity ammo. After seeing the link posted by HellKnightz I took it apart just to take a look around, but I certainly don't intend to modify it until/unless a problem develops. It does require a thorough cleaning every 1000 rounds or so, but only to maintain good feeding...light firing pin strikes haven't been an issue for me.

My MK22 Arrives on Monday. I will post a range report... going to blast off 500 rounds in one session. Will keep you posted. I too am a bit worried...but having been assured I have the latest production run of the rifle I'm confident it will be reliable.

You must shim in between bolt and plate to push bolt forward. You will need longer screw, use small washer for shim. After you will see proper pin strikes on face. Use cci blazer. Do not use remington bulk, stuff in milk jug. Does not feed well. Stingers are also iffy, seems cases are stronger does not make the proper dent in casing. Poor designed gun, but once u get it running its all fun. Any more questions, ask away. Ive done soo much to this rifle to get to work. Not to mention fix the factory screw ups.

I was about to buy one of these, but I'm glad I researched them. I'll wait until the factory fixes known issues.
