Shorten PAL Approval Times

Here's my timeline:

December 21 - Passed pal/rpal exam
December 28 - Mailed to Miramichi
January 2 - Received by Miramichi
January 21 - Received stamped test results from CFO
January 22 - Application showed up online
January 22 - Faxed test results
January 29 - Phoned in and did my interview
January 31 - Both reference's called in for interview
February 1 - Licence has been approved and issued

31 days from the day it was received to the day it was issued

well congrats to everyone who got approved today (yesterday), even though mine seems to have taken an extra month...have fun, and remember...SAFETY

Received Mirimachi - Dec 31
Showed up online - Jan 14 with status of Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.
28 Days finished on Jan 27
Called in on Jan 28 to enquire about doing interviews and was told application has not been scanned in call later. (Hopefully they will scan it in sooner than later but the good thing is in the time it takes for them to process my whole application I should have some money saved up to spend)
Called in Friday Feb 1 and asked if my application was available to do my interview. After a minute he came back and said yes and will transfer me over. (Did my interview and got my file number)
Feb 4 - Both references called in and did interviews
Feb 4 - License has been issued and will have it within 2 weeks. Literally 1 minute after my reference hung up it was approved. (Now to start shopping)

For all those people who think they may get denied due to some sort of issue with the police just apply as unless you are a threat you will get it. Just be honest in how you fill out the application as they have more information than you think they have.

Thanks to this forum/thread as I most likely would of waited longer but I followed some of the guides and was able to push my application through by calling in and doing my interviews. Also called in to verify that no information was missing. If you want results just make them laugh when calling definitely helped me. 36 days from when they received it to being approved.

Now for the hunting course.
 
License in the mail today. Received at Miramichi on Dec 4, then 3 weeks to appear online Jan 10 ish interviews, At the cfo's for 2 weeks. Issued on Jan 23, Received by me Feb 4. Exactly 2 months. Ontario

Mine complete led today.. Interviews were yesterday/this morning.. Now I have a question where do I look for transfer status of firearms ... Already have a 1911 paid for and the transfer was started this morning .. Also can I get a TATT to go to the range for Saturday and Sunday until my ltatt is done? Or do I have to wait

Is it a person to person transfer or did you buy from a retailer? P2P transfer are close to a month of wait. Not sure about TATT for range use, call CFO but the way they are treating us right now i doubt they will make things easy for you. You may have to wait.
Waiting sucks, but when dealing with firearms seems like the norm.
 
It's a dealer I knew about the waits for p2p and want my ATT ASAP .. Hopefully by the end of the week ill be able to complain about not being able to shoot my new gun... Oh well I guess I'll just have to take some non res to the range.

Isn't the purpose of a TATT to allow for lawful transportation of a restricted weapon without an ltatt .. I'm sure I've heard of them being issued for non club members to do some shooting
 
Called today, 8 days after they received my application, to see if I could get them to speed it up and get it in the system so I could start the process of my references calling in, etc. Lady laughed at me and said don't even try calling until 3 weeks have passed. She was pleasant though....
 
Called CFC a few weeks ago to check on my app. They said everything was good and it was transfered to the Ont. CFO. Would it be a good idea to call them for a update? And for the real noob question is it the same number for the CFO as the CFC? I did not hear a option for them on the automated switchboard.

I believe if you call the 1-800 CFC number and talk to the person and say you want to be transferred to Ontario CFO they will transfer you.

Try this phone number for Ontario CFO
1-800-731-4000 1 for english, then 1 if you know ext, then 7503
Dont be surprised if you have to leave a msg and they will call back within 1 business day

call the 1-800-731-4000 and use ext 2533.
that's the line for the interview officer
i called and asked for interview because i work during their normal hours so i am calling to make sure i get it done.
she said no problem opened my file and started asking questions
my ref's called same number and were done in about 3 mins each then website switched to completed....
