OK, so yesterday I pick up this
First thing I do is clean, and lubricate the rifle. I couldn't remove the barrel because I didn't have my allen key set.
Anywho, I'm a happy camper nonetheless.
After reading these forums, and seeing where a vendor has written "Do not use the firearm on adverse while breaking it in.... it's like revving a new car to red line.... they haven't updated the book yet, too busy building the rifles to update."
So I crank down the gas setting as advised from the forum. Load up the first mag, aim - BANG, click, re-####, bang, click, re-####. You get the idea, a real expensive semi-auto single shot.
Crank up the gas regulator to just under the + setting. Cycles all five rounds. Load up again, fires 3 rounds, hard stoppage. Cartridge damaged. Remove the mag, and the follower is stuck down about 1/4 inch which allowed the cartridges to move freely within the magazine. So I oiled the contact points of the follower in the magazine, reloaded and continued. No problems with magazine after oiling.
I gradually turned down the gas regulator one notch at a time until I have a failure to feed, then turn it back up one. No issues with subsequent rounds down range.
Fired 60 rounds in total, American Eagle 150gr, FMJ boat tails. Not going for accuracy, just wanted lead down range. Once I decide what optics I want, and outfit the rifle I will try for accuracy.
Scary first two shots with the rifle. If I had followed what is written in the manual, vs the forum, I wouldn't have had such a scare. All is well that ends well though, and I'm still smiling.
