Here's a report of my latest dealings with Leica.

I sent an email to the contact listed on their website about a problem I was having with a 1600b rangefinder about a month ago. I sent the email on Sat afternoon, first thing Monday I had a email back telling me to call to discuss so I did. The rep asked what the problem was and I told him it was struggling to range the far stuff and he said he thought it had a misaligned laser. He then took all my info and said to expect an email descibing what I was supposed to do. I then recieved an email later the same day with customs forms and a ups label and a desciption of exactly how to configure the paperwork for shipping. I got busy after that for a couple weeks and didn't end up sending it until two weeks ago. Here's where they blow me away...yesterday I recieve a BRAND NEW CRF 1600b in the mail, all it says is warranty replacement. Now keep in mind these units only carry a two year non transferable warranty, they didnt ask for ANYTHING! not a how long have you had it? are you the original owner? nothing. I still can't believe this level of commitment fom a company that size and in this day and age...IMPRESSIVE! Outstanding product and outstanding service.

Oh yeah, ranged a tree about an hour ago at 1900 and change, and it calculates data for slope, temp, pressure and gives a solution in moa to 850y....LOVE IT!

I hav had two dealings with Lieca warranty deptartment. First was on a similiar problem as the OP, and the unit was over three years old. Filled out the warranty repair paperwork and put it in the mail, two weeks later brand new next model up in the mail no charge. Second problem was fogged up lens, I suspect my fault, sent out the same as before and new next model up two weeks later. So the warranty of the Lieca is good in my opinion.
