Tokarev TT-33 ordered from Kelly's Sporting Goods

I took mine apart. it does not have cosmoline it it. Looks to be heavy oil. Cosmo is more like a grease. It wiped clean easuily with a paper towel.

Ran a patch through the barrel. It is bright and shiny, but it has been fired. there is a slight copper color in the rifling. I have no doubt the inspection process included a full mag of shooting. It was cleaned after that, but not perfectly cleaned.

I noticed one difference between this Tok and some others. It is easy to #### it by racking the slide. The others are difficult to rack unless it is cocked first. If it is on half-####, the slide is locked.

Trigger is about the best out-of -the-box milsurp pistol I have ever tried. I look forward to shooting it for function and accuracy.

Try cleaning that barrel a bit more, old dry cosmo sometimes looks reddish. If you give it a good scrub that may disappear!

Mine came scratch free from Kelly's and I have fired 100 Hungarian surp. through it without a hitch (actually, I think one fail to eject, not sure it was the polish or the Russian. I had both with me and was switching back and fort). My Russian is still smother, but it has fired a create of ammo, so..... I think I have been very lucky with Tokarevs.

Polish Toks are from Factory 11, so they have the big 11 in the circle on top of the slide, front of the rear sight, my pristine Polish Tok from Kelly's jam 1-2 each mag (7 differents mags), soooo I am curious to see what will be the conclusion at the range for all other who bought those Polish Tok....
 
My russian was like that, and have not fired the polish ones yet. I am cleaning up the russian a bit better and the polish. I will fire them as is and then install the new wolff springs., and try again. It will be a couple weeks before the springs get here. Will let you know! No need for everyone to buy new springs (although they are inexpensive) if they don't make a difference! We are also going to clean up the surpus ammo too and I am going to use commercial new s&b first, to see if that makes a diff.. After 60 years in a crate, they may need tweaking! I am closing in on 60 years and need tweaking every damn day!
 
tazik have you tried mixing up the parts of your TT 33's to see if you can identify which component is causing the jam's? (frame, barrel etc) I had a problem with one of mine not racking; by mixing and matching components I was able to identify the problem (the firing pin chamber on the slide was just a little high) and make repair. That one thing I like so much about the russian firearms (TT 33, SKS and Mosin) is the simplicity of design and the ease of repair.

Fantastic! Any pics? can you show us what you did to fix the problem? Good job!
 
I ordered a spare magazine with my Polish TT-33, one works as it should and the other causes feeding problems and needs work.
The problems are;
jams with the cartridge part way in the chamber,
does not always feed a cartridge on closing the slide on the first round,
does not always activate the hold open device.
Great 2 stage trigger.
 
I used a few file strokes and some 400 grit

Seemed to solve the problem.

I don't know if it's related, but on mine the one grip panel didn't quite fit properly,the top was sticking out. The inside part of that grip needed a little plastic filed away, and then it fit properly into the hole.
 
one of my grip panels is warped up on the ends, so it rocks on the centre where it locks to the frame. not sure about heating this old plastic to flatten it?

I thought I might try swapping out the grips from my Norc 213, which are actually pretty nice.
 
I got to shoot my Kelly's Tok today. Used the S&B steel core ammo from Marstar. Only fired one mag. 100% function.

Accuracy was excellent. It shot to the left. That is typical of my results with new guns. I will move the rear sight a bit.

Two hands at 20 yards.

I need to stop looking at this thread... my Tok is still sitting at Kelly's, paid for, waiting on my RPAL to clear.... c'mon already! Holster on the way, ammo here, I wanna shoot it already!
