Are you referring to the square trigger guard on the challenger pistol? It's supposed to be like that, it's a more comfortable rest for your finger when not on the trigger and is an option offered on many pistols these days such as the CZ's, Beretta's, Glocks, Sig's and others. You should do your homework before you criticise.
If you did your homework, you would know that your trigger finger goes on the frame above the trigger guard when you are not shooting.
Squared and serrated trigger guards were developed to provide a rest for the index finger of the support hand, but this technique is not recommended these days.
