new canadian made 1911

Are you referring to the square trigger guard on the challenger pistol? It's supposed to be like that, it's a more comfortable rest for your finger when not on the trigger and is an option offered on many pistols these days such as the CZ's, Beretta's, Glocks, Sig's and others. You should do your homework before you criticise.

If you did your homework, you would know that your trigger finger goes on the frame above the trigger guard when you are not shooting.

Squared and serrated trigger guards were developed to provide a rest for the index finger of the support hand, but this technique is not recommended these days.

Oh I've seen lots of square trigger guards on 1911s, just never seen one that unrefined even on a production gun, let alone a custom.

I'll give you that. As much as I liked them when I first got them I'm not overly thrilled anymore. The quality is not what I thought, they're not holding up very well. There are many reasons but I'm seeing the same or higher quality coming from off the shelf units now for far less money. I tried just recently to purchase 2 more for a friend of mine and dealing with the company became a nightmare. He did not ship when promised, lied that he had shipped when he didn't actually ship for 4 more weeks, and then when the products arrived they were both incomplete and one had extensive damage to the slide where someone had tried to install the sights with a steel punch and had missed and hit the slide! Screws were reamed from using the wrong drivers and there were scratches all over from slipping with a screwdriver and clamping in a rough vice. When we contacted the owner he said to just fix it because he gave us a good deal! When I said that was unacceptable and that I'd like to send them back for him to fix or replace he blew a gasket and said to send them back, he'd refund my money and I should just go deal with another company because he'll have no problem selling them to someone else next week. Lesson learned, I should have listened to the others on this site and not bought from Canstar.

Sorry, I did not write that correctly and yes you are very correct in your terminology. My answer was not intended to sound snotty as apparently it did.

Pictures or it doesn't exists :)

I wonder how they do vs high end DLASK or Brown/Baer/NHC/Wilson....

In hind sight I wish I'd spent my money on an Ed Brown, less money, better quality and a much much better company to deal with. The owner of Canstar is an absolute ass and does not stand behind his products at all.
Maybe people will have better luck with the guy who's setting up in Western Canada but I'd be suprised if he won't have the same hassles as any of us trying to deal directly although a middle man can be nice when dealing with someone like him.

Wow, I can't believe someone actually bought one of these Canstar 1911's.

Well unless that guy's ego gets in check and he learns how to operate a business, I may go down in history as the last fool to make that mistake.
Here are some pics of the damage that came on the brand new pistols. This is the damage that the owner of Canstar told me to just go ahead and fix myself because I got a good deal and then he blew up when I said he should be the one fixing his own mistakes, not me. Unbelievable. I was the only person on this site defending his products but that was evidently a big mistake.

This sure sucks for a new gun. What, are they too cheap to buy a sight pusher?

Apparently! Even if you're going to tap them into place, you use a brass punch, not a steel one which is obviously what happened here. Can you imagine paying what he asks for them ($3200) and having that arrive in the mail?!?! You can guess my reaction.

I can't believe how they doubled in price from two years ago the one I was going to get was $1600.00 the same gun now is $3200.00 a guy would be nuts to buy a canstar 1911 gun over a les bear,Ed brown, wilson,or nighthawk I am surprised canstar sold any guns at that price.
