I like it!
One of the things I'd rather see, if I were gonna go to that amount of trouble to build a bench with a Formica top like that, would be to use kitchen countertop type backsplash edges. It's a stone PITA, to go chasing after the small parts that roll out over the back edge and fall behind the bench, when the bench is fully stocked up.
Even a bit of quarter round would be a help, IMO.

Personally, I don't like Formica on reloading benches, give me a nice solid wood top.
The one I have now has Formica top. Tha last one was wood and I was wiping up some spilled powder and caught a sliver from one edge. When the doc was finnished removing the sliver I had 6 stitches.
That would definitely be a benefit of formica!!
