Out of the Loop - Why can't I find .22LR ANYWHERE!?

buy all you can when you see it, and plan to use it, wholesalers are out and have no idea when and if they can restock. it really is very bad. all that is made in the us. is bought up quickly. gun prices are now dropping as they have no ammo to sell. Homeland Security just ordered 1.6 billion rounds of all types, so that will take some time to fill. This is not a short term deal folks.

Everyone clearing the shelves is not the answer either. That is why there is no ammo around.

That guy does makes sense, a lot of it. You still need to buy ammo now if you want to shoot this summer, as the supply is bottlenecked and won't be normal for some time. Weather the shortage is due to perception or reality, its still a shortage, and folks need to buy now if they want ammo.
 
Locally, all the small shops are sold out and gave me the whole "Everyone in the US is buying it all up or it's on order but the suppliers are out of stock." Now I make a point of buying a couple bricks when ever I see some in stock whether I need it or not.
 
Ive got about 20K stashed up and buy all the 333/555 Win I can find. All my rimfires love the stuff and once it dries up this spring I doubt we will see any till next spring,,,,possibly later. And when it does come back in stock I suspect at least a 20% price jump. I really hope Im wrong.
 
Slim pickings in grande prairie, Barton's is out, prime time had a 5000 of fiocci for 499 but not much else a few 50 packs. Wss, well I wouldn't give them my money no way no how and Walmart had a few bricks of federal but there gone and a few 555 win but not many. Break ups here and it kills to to have to stockpile when I won't see a check for 3 months. Dark days we live in for sure
 
If the shortages continue one would expect that producers in Europe and Mexico would attempt to fill the void; I would expect that Canadian distributors would be examining this option. This like the US supply will take time to fill...

I'm sure it will trickle in but stores may put a limit on how much a guy buys. Take a read on Rimfire Central to get a perspective on things...Now is the time to buy up as much as you can. Its not gonna get cheaper or easier to find.

There were Americans at the Renfrew ON gun show this week end buying ammo. the shelves in the NY stores that I went to today were empty of all the handgun ammo and most rifle calibers.
 
I would like to know what these people in the usa buying hundreds of thousands of rounds are going to do with it. I also thought everyone was broke and losing their homes but yet they can afford to blow tens of thousands of guns and ammo?? Something just doesnt add up here
 
I buy 1 crate of ammo at a time so 10 bricks of 22 lr. Why because I shoot it and sit on it untill I'm almost out of ammo then I just buy another case when it runs low and repeat.

I will go through 1-2 bricks of 22lr 500 round packs in 1 range sitting so thats only 5 trips to the range.
 
Well there you go, boys and girls. One of the reasons some people like us poor students can't afford or find ammo. "... sitting on 20,000 rounds" "I buy the cases whether I need it or not..." The best way to make someone want to be greedy? Tell them there is no more and make sure it looks that way by enticing buyers to buy bulk and quantity. Hey, not pointing fingers, I'd do it if I could afford to, but just goes to show... to quote an old saying from the Motherland: "Workers make materials, Factories make product. But who get's rich? The merchant! He takes your money, worker, and your product, factory, and sells it back to you at an inflated price because he makes it so you need and want it". Imagine if you could buy ammo straight from the factory? Now THERE is an idea! ;) Or, a CO-OP for buying bulk ammo and distributing it at fair, non-individual-profit prices!

So, anyone in Alberta wanna share some .22LR CCI Blazer with a poor worker? ;)
 
you are in the wrong province for a socialist viewpoint :) That may have been true in the "Motherland", but not so much here in a capitalist economy. It's not perfect, but all things considered, I'd rather be here than there :D

I was in the Canadian Tire in Burlington last night. The had plenty of 22lr on the shelf. Anywhere from $25 for a brick to $30 for 500 rds. Lots of 50 packs of various 22lr ammo. 50pks started at $2.99 up to $6 or $7 bucks I think.

Lots of shotgun ammo too. IIRC they had a bunch of 303 and 30-06 too
 
I haven't noticed any shortage. Hamilton ontario area. I've been to al simmons, sail(Burlington), fishing world, Canadian tire. All had bulk and premium stuff.

Definitely no shogun shell shortage. Fishing world has tons of it, I just picked up 250 rounds for $5X.xx remington gun club.
