KSG vs 870? Kewl vs Reliable?

870. 8+1 capacity and a bayonet lug

Exactly what I was thinking.

You'll get a pm from me then in 40 years! Why does everyone hate on the ksg? Is it because of the 10 year wait list that causes the hostility?

Haters gonna hate...don't sweat it

I don't think anybody here really hates them. All guns are interesting in one way or another and the KSG has lots to go for it when it come to being interesting and fun...for the video game generations! I'm 33...my generation, with the original Nintendo started it,...so I can say it! LOL!

The KSG is fun, it's interesting and it's revolutionary in a way! Sadly, and despite what some published literature or sales brochures might say, it was designed for one specific end user in mind. Because of that fact, it is a design that looks the part but cannot play it very well.

It's not all about quality and gun track record neither, it's also about what gun you feel most comfortable with (ergonomics), what gun you can shoot and handle best, what works for you. In a shtf scenario, you need something that you are good with, not something fancy that you aren't that good with.

I like the Fabarm Shotguns more then the 870. Now the 870 is a good firearm don't get me wrong but if I was taking 1 gun in the bush it would be a double barrel shotgun 2 shots is more then enough you have 1 barrel loaded with buckshot and 1 barrel loaded with bird shot now you can take all game in the bush with that.

The KSG has 1 big fault its a heavy firearm. A few pounds can add up over time so I like light weight firearms when I have to carry them around.

How does it seem like an unreliable toy? Mine are very reliable. You have one you said is it unreliable? If so why do you still have it? Any why is the KSG a "toy"? It's a shotgun just like the 870. Because its a bullpup? Or is it because it holds a high capacity? It's no different than any other shotgun other than it holds more rounds than your average shotgun.

Do me a favour and leave your 870 outside overnight and see in the morning how close it resembles a pumpkin with all the rust from the cheap finish you get. You won't get that with polymer

well, in this scenario we're using, lets say you run out of ammo in the tubes and are forced to go hand to hand. one buttstroke from my 870= downed bad guy, functional gun, maybe a scratch or dent. One buttstroke from your ksg= downed bad guy, busted gun.

Are you serious my ksg weighs 7 lbs loaded, my 870 is heavy and bulky and holds 8 rounds.

I can hold 15 rounds if I run out of ammo then I am in a scenario which no matter how many shells I have I would be dead

My thoughts exactly. I'm content with my 870 in this configuration for it's adjustability and compactness
in the bush. Equipped with an Enidine recoil buffer, she's a light kicker and choke tubes make it all
the more useful. Makes for lots of attention on the trap field as well. ;)

The way I see it is if I through a 870 and a KSG down the stairs, what gun would still be in one piece??

Why don't you test that theory and let us know how it goes, if I throw all 4 of my ksg's down the stairs with all 5 of my 870's I'm sure there will be a big pile of mess everywhere haha

Well I would not want to get piece's of KSG all over my 870 :p

KSG is a really fun gun but the 870 can take the abuse
