You get three guns...

1) My custom mauser 98, .375 H&H
2) My Beretta 686, 12 gauge
3) My Anscutz 1640, 22lr

If allowed I would keep my Krieghoff einstecklauf (insert barrel) in .22lr for the beretta 686, and fit the shotgun with EAW scope bases so it could be used as an O/U shotgun or a 12g/22lr combo. Then I may get rid of the Anschutz .22 and keep my Heym SR30 6.5x55 instead

1. 6.5x55 in a custom Husky-FN action, MacMillan Edge, fluted match barrel (light all around rifle). Classic, yet modern.
2. A.H. Fox 16 bore double
3. Marlin model 56, .22. It was my father's and the firearm that means the most to me.

The #1 slot above is where I have the most trouble choosing. I love the Swede but if game larger than deer/black bears was going to be a regular occurance again then something like my pre-64 model 70 in .300 H&H, or a Husky-FN .30-06 might have to replace it. Who knows, maybe the old Husky-FN in 9.3x62 that is enroute will become a contender for the #1 spot.

I quickly get to thinking that I would keep at least one lever and despite my affection for the 86 and 71 Winchesters, it would either be a 92 in 44-40 or a 94 in .32 Special. Then I would be trying to sneek in a small game center fire and that would be a .223 sporter with a quick twist barrel. My old Savage 99A in .250 would be a sentimental contender here too.

While I have no intention at this point to drop all the way down to three firearms, I have been in a reducing mood for the past few years. My priority has switched from collecting to using and from groups to game. Yesterday I spent most of the afternoon with my two girls out in my woodlot having a fire and target practicing with an old Cooey model 39, single shot .22. It is times like those that remind me to cherish and pursue the memories instead of the commodity. That motivates me to sell some guns so that I can finally travel west for a mule deer hunt and a few other "bucket list" items.

Good on you Ardent. I can't wait to read about your lion hunt!

1. Custom Rem 700- HS Precision stock, Leupold VX3 4.5x14x40 B&C, 26" GAILLARD barrel...300 WBY MAG - 180gr Nosler Partition
2. Browning BLR 81 (steel) , Leupold VXII 2x7x33 LR...358 Winchester - 200gr Nosler Accubond
3. Parker Hale Safari, Leupold VXII 3x9x40 LR 6mm Rem - 100gr Nosler Partition

Pretty much handle any hunting with these, by the wayside but hard to do is my Tikka T3 in 338 Win Mag, Custom Parker Hale 1200C in 35 Whelen and my Tikka T3 in 30/06, That would be a good list as well :)

I'll use my bow for grouse and turkey

brno 21H in 8x57 - this will do for the vast majority of hunting i am likely to do and it is a beautiful rifle.
brno ZKW 465 22k-hornet - beautiful, accurate, and the kids can handle it well.
ruger new bearcat 22LR - because everyone should own a handgun and the kids can handle this as well.

How about combination guns? If allowed, I would have:
1. Franz Sodia 16ga over 9.3 x 74R, comes with a .22lr insert for the shotgun barrel. (All around hunting)
2. .223 Rem 700 (Fun gun)
3. 71 / 84 Mauser, just to have an opportunity to shoot cast.

Having to lose the rest would probably kill me! Truly, a scenario one does not want to contemplate.

Depends... you mentioned Africa... my three for Africa would be different from my NA three.

African set;

Browning CCS in 375 H&H custom double
Ruger RSI in 7X57
Browning Silver Lightning in 12 ga.

NA set;

Winchester 70 in .300 WM
Rem. 700 in .223
Browning Silver Lightning in 12 ga.

Caveats;

I would miss rimfire terribly, but would compensate with NON firearm airguns...
I would also be bowhunting the majority of the time anyway.
I would also cheat if this were a real life situation, with multiple barrels for break action single frames, which is what I do now, in about 13 different calibers.

One would have to be a .22lr. I'd go with my older Brno bolt .22, sentimental favourite that drives tacks...nice combinaion of qualities.

One centerfire, must be versatile enough and legal for everything everywhere. I'll take my Blaser .375H&H. I know what you said, but this isn't cheating if I don't keep other barrels for it. It's just so much easier and more pleasant to travel with a take-down. This gun is crazy accurate, has a perfect trigger and scope mounting system, and I have a history with it I just can't duplicate with anything else.

Finally, one shotgun. I don't own a drilling, but a double-12gauge over something like 7x65R would probably get the nod. If not allowed by your rules, which are worse than those of some oppressive countries :), I'll just hang onto an old 870.
