You get three guns...

So, you are selling off your guns in a fictional scenario to fund dream hunts (a common theme for me as I like the hunting more than the guns), what would your battery look like? You can only have three in it, and that includes your shotgun(s). This is what life is like in South Africa and Zimbabwe for most folks largely too and not by choice, hope we don't go there rule wise but I digress. No answers of "wouldn't do it" as then this thread just isn't for ya. :)

Preferably, choosing from among guns you already own.

For me, it would be the following, I could go down to them without putting any crimp in my hunting:

-Ruger RSM .375 H&H (if I hadn't built personal history with the RSM, it would likely be my Model 70 stainless .375 H&H, just more versatile in weather)
-Ruger Gold Label 12ga
-Ruger No.1 Stainless RSI .250 Savage (tough to edge out my 7x57 Mauser Oberndorf, but it doesn't mount a scope)

Of course, I enjoy more and have nicer guns than these that I like to use, but I could do without them. Your list?

Ardent, your proposal would be very painful for me. It would be tough to be without a whole bunch of my specialized rigs. But if someone held a gun to my head and forced me, I could hunt with only my Brno 212H 7x64 with Leupold 2.5-8X scope, my Anschutz 1515 .22 WMR with leupold 2-7, and my Browning Citori 16 ga, white lightning 28".

You buy a Blaser with every barrel/caliber made, then add a nice 22 and a shotgun of your choice. That's how they do it in countries with limited ownership, Sweden and the UK to name a couple. :)

Was curious who was going to know this angle. :) For the purposes of this thread however- cheating!

Great lists so far, well rounded. I'd miss a rimfire in my list, for sure.

I'm not sure that I own the exact rifles that I would want if I could only have three, but I could make do. I could get by with a 7 STW or .300 Win on the low end and a .458 Win or Lott on the high end. My Beretta Silver Pigeon 111 will be fine for the scattergun part. Though I have these rifle calibers now, I'd be getting D'Arcy Echols to build a nice matching set with part of the proceeds of the rest of my junk pile. There is at least a slimchance that my Cooper Western Classic in STW would get to stay if it ever gets here.

my tikka 338wm
savage 22/250 A.I
either my 6.5 creemoor or my 280 rem havent played with them enough to say for sure.
but if had to pickright now the 280 would win.

Interesting thread since I have spent the last month seriously thinking about doing just this. For years I have bought the 'right' gun/shotgun for each type of hunting I do. Especially with shotguns, I have one just for woodcock, another for pheasant, another for ducks, etc. I also had several overlapping rifles and was continuing the theme until it occured to me one day: a big bore, a small bore and a shotgun. Done. Problem is alpine hunting- can I cheat and keep one extra?

.22- for fun, trigger time and children
.375 H&H- so I can hunt anywhere I want
16guage- if it flies it dies

Cheater: my 7lb scoped .270 ;)

The drillings made in Suhl have been catching my eye lately. 16x16x9.3x74R <-- Does that count as one gun????

Dad's Pre 64 300 H&H
12b Superposed
the 94/22 that dad gave me for my First birthday.

Frickin nightmare scenario. Angus I hate you for making me even think about this.
