CMMG 22 LR conversion kit Version INDIA

I was considering the INDIA before I ultimately decided on a full upper. I got the upper that has all the features of the INDIA as far as the bolt assembly goes. Depending on your use, the upper choice can make sense as the conversions do have a downside or two. Two of the items in the INDIA package have limited value in my opinion. I never use the Forward Assist and the loader is very crude. I bought one and never use it. I did a lot of research before buying and got very good advice. The one thing that was highly recommended was to get the stainless model as the bolt assembly is stronger and easily cleaned. If you do get their Evolution magazine, you might find that it is ammo fussy. Several of the cartridges I tried had slightly long OAL's and they jammed. I finally settled on the bulk Federal 36 gr hollow points which work very well as they are shorter in OAL.

I have the CMMG stainless Bravo and I'm trying to source the lug. CMMG sells them for $30, but I'm not sure they'll ship too Canada. I'll let you know if they answer my email.

I have a cmmg echo (stainless steel came with bolt hold open, forward assist adapter, mag ect...but doesnt have the brass locking lug..just round brass) that I got through arms east...I didn't see the same kit on their site last time I checked but maybe they can order it for you. I agree with hercster that the forward assist is useless and I have only had it function properly once. And ss is a breeze to clean.

thx peeps ! maybe a stainless kit will be fine, how much are these uppers going for >?
The cost of an upper varies depending on the model. Top of the line CMMG is about $600.00 with a stainless bolt. Check with Questar or Armseast who have had them. There are other brands too you might check out. The advantage is that the rifling twist is optimal for the .22 bullet which looses accuracy in a 1-7 or 1-9 standard AR barrel. Also you avoid fouling the barrel and gas system in your AR which is a cleaning consideration as the .22 cartridge tends to be dirty. I've configured my .22 upper almost identically to my .223. So a caliber switch is easy without re zeroing which would likely be necessary with a conversion.

hmm both website seem to be sold out, and questar even removed the stainless kit and also their cmmg up from the website :( any ideas ?

The only thing I can think of is to call and see if they have reordered. I do know that CMMG isn't taking new orders due to their backlog. Another option is to buy a S&W "tactical .22 full rifle. They are popular and very reliable at about the cost of a good upper. I know a few people who have them and are pleased. For the most part they look and feel like an AR 15 but are lighter. Many people train with them. Mossberg (lower cost) also makes a similar one as does Colt.

Check with SFRC who list two Mossberg models but are also out of stock. Lantz shooting also used to have a S&W and may be able to order for you. Check with Dylan at Lantz 289-407-0675.
