bc transfer time

I think it is reasonable to call every day. They obviously don't process them in order. There is now way we could have as much variance as is reported here if they did. And the RCMP/CFP website specifically says, "The transfer transaction is typically updated in CFIS within a few hours, and the transferee can legally take possession of the firearms at that point."

Taking two or more weeks when the process should typically take a few hours isn't reasonable. And they've been like this for a year now.

You would think that with the termination of the LGR they would have so much more time on their hands and be able to get things done faster.

Completing a transfer tomorrow. Let's hope for 2 weeks or less.

Check the stats the RCMP publishes. Since the end of the LGR the % of transfers processed within 30 days has dropped by a couple percentage points. And the total number of transfers has fallen by about 50k per month.

...when I looked online.

Online on the Wanstall's website or on the CFP website? I've never seen my transfers on the CFP website.

I've drafted a formal complaint letter about these delays. The CFP website says it should only take a few hours to approve a transfer. I haven't yet decided about sending it in.

Private sale, called CFC with reference number and was told 5 to 10 business days. Called back 9 days later and was then told it would be 4 weeks minimum. They can't even get there stores straight, wonder what the story will be on Monday when I call.

Honestly, I get the impression that they'll say anything to get you to hang up and not call again for as long as possible. I was also given the same wide variety of estimates during my different calls. I always try to point out to them that the CFP website says that transfers are usually processed within a few hours.

I call every day after two weeks. On one such call I got a cranky lady on the other end. She told me that I was wasting my time calling as it would probably take at least two or more weeks. I told her that it should have been done within a day or so and that I did not have anything better to do and if she was not talking to me it would be someone else

I was very polite the whole time and sujested if they did not like us calling every day then all they had to do was get them done in a timely manner. To this she bid me a good day.

My transfer from a business (out of province) started on the 15th...no love yet...:( (and I do call every day)

edit: March 26...my bad...my LTATT had expired so it was held up...went to the BC CFO office and corrected that. The nice gentleman serving me finished the held up transfer at the same time.

Mine took just over a week recently, my fathers took just under a week a few weeks prior to that. Both purchases from the same store. Although he is at three weeks plus while waiting for a private transfer.

Side Question. I have an latt good for borders, gunsmiths, and ranges. Do I need anither ATT to pick up my pistol from Reliable in Burnaby and Bring it home? If so, can I get it in advanced?

You need a short term to take it home. Without one you'd probably kick a puppy or some other heinous crime. I believe you have to wait for the transfer to complete first.
