CSA 7.62 Magwell adapters?

Just a bump and a heads up that zahal.org has stock on these magwell adapters again. I ordered one for my vz58 carbine and will post a review when I get it and some XCR mags to test with.

I am still skeptical, so keep us updated. Not to take anything away from your experience with the adapter 5440fight, but I just don't want to be stuck with 200 dollar investment into something that is not guaranteed to function on my rifle. I am surprised more people haven't tried this already.

Suit yourself. I just bought a few more 7.62 lar mags. Good times!

Just wondering why so many people dislike the B&T Adaptor

Instead of chunky I see it as strong/durable.
Who needs a bolt hold?
Its been nothing but reliable for me in the 600+ rounds I put through it since then.
Coupled 10+10 straight mags are fun
Real black colour (my cz is armacoated)

The bolt hold is the only downside I can really see.

I think the issue is not only the chunky appearance, but the expense of the adapter itself and the labour/millling/fitting/shipping away of the firearm. And after all of those expense, the adapter doesn't even feature a bolt hold open.

I am cheap and that's why I haven't done either options, as I can't justify the B&T and I don't wanna take any chances on the CSA adapter since it was never designed to function with the 7.62x39 rifles. Perhaps, after I hear another success trial.

Just a bump and a quick update.

As it sits, the combination of CSA adapter and XCR pistol mags does not work in my rifle. 5440fight and I have been going back and forth to try and get it sorted, but nothing has worked. His adapter is not exactly the same as mine and it looks like the tolerances have stacked up slightly in his favour and slightly against me.

The problem is the feed ramp lip sticks out just enough on my rifle to prevent the mags from seating fully. I am working with a friend to sort out some machining to just bump that lip back and provide the clearance needed for the mag. It looks like we will have to take ~0.040" off the lip to make it work. It could be done with a steady hand and a dremel (or quality files, they may work better than the dremel), but I am not going there. Having access to a mill makes it possible to do this accurately and professionally, so that anyone looking at it won't even know anything was done.

More to come once we have the milling sorted out...

Well that's a shame. You are lucky that you have access to a mill. Another reason why I didn't want to take the chance, since I don't have those connections.

Do you and 5440 have different generations of CSA adapters? Also, are their differences between your CSA rifle? I don't know if they older or new rifles would fare better.

My adapter has no marks that clearly distinguish it from Mark's, but the mag release button is different. At a glance, without having both in hand, they appear very similar, almost identical. My Vz-58 is a 7.5" barreled CSA, and has no modifications. My mags are XCR 10 rounders, and LAR-15 mags, marked for 7.62x39. Even new mags work great with mine, and drop free, with no FTF. Kinda weird...

Ps. My rifle is one of the newer ones, with no bayonet lug.

Bump, cauz I said so!

Anybody else have success with the 556 magwell in a VZ58 7.62?

I was thinking of this thread the other day, thanks for the reminder. I haven't had the machining done on my vz yet due to work and family commitments, but it will hopefully be done in the next couple of weeks.
