Sig 226 reviews

Not my personal favourite due to the higher bore axis and placement of the slide lock lever but I still like it a lot. Not my #1 choice but I would have no hesitations if I had to shoot one and if I had the money for a bigger collection, a SIG would be part of it (there are many guns that would not lol). I would recommend it as long as it works for you. Shoot before you buy if you can (and you're in Edmonton so you will be able to) to figure out how you like it. Interwebs can give you specs and a sample of how other people feel but just because millions of people like something doesn't mean you will.

Technically it is a fine gun and I don't think you'll get many people with many negative things to say about SIGs

My first gun was a Sig Sauer 9 mm and it made me a believer to think at how stupidly reliable that thing was.
Now I have two P226 pistols - a MK25 and an all-stainless. The SS is a .40 that recoils less than your conventional 9mm pistol.
The only thing I say about Sigs over other guns is you have to be a lot more vigilant about lubricating the frame rails with a good quality grease (not oil) because the aluminum frame will get eaten by the steel slide if not properly lubed up. But that's not a huge deal to me or to anyone really, since nobody I can think of is wandering the earth getting into gun fights and never has time to lube their pistol LOL.

Also, watch your thumb placement.

Other than that, great, great guns. Expensive but as always you get what you pay for.

I have P226 E2 with SRT. I like it, but still prefer my glock.

I still don't regret buying it though. Only negatives are it's a bit heavy and the grips aren't grippy enough.. thinking about stippling them.

My first handgun was a Sig P226 Navy. I've yet to find a more reliable handgun. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a no nonsense pistol that shots perfectly right out of the box.

What a coincidence, I have both in my lineup. I originally intended on selling the one I liked least. That was 3 years ago and I still can't decide. If money was an object, I would reluctantly but decisively keep the Sig.

+1 couldn't decide so I got both Beretta 90Two in 9mm and Sig P226 in .40s&w. I did try to part with my 9mm, instead I turned it into my plinker/warm up gun at the range. The wife will be getting a P226 in 9mm for her birthday this year. =]

Since you are in Edmonton go to Phoenix they have a sig p226 in 9mm or 40 s&w and see how you like it, they are doing some reno's right now so you might have to wait a week or two. I'd let you try mine but I'm probably not going to have a chance to get out to the range in the near future and also my range is phoenix so waiting for me would do you no good hahaha.

It's a 226 in .40 and a 229 Elite in 9mm (I'm an RO there). Yeah as for the reno's we'll see how long those take, they didn't even give us a for sure start back date yet. OP if you still haven't managed to shoot one by late April/early May I'll meet up with you at a range and you can try mine out. Unfortunately I won't be able to do anything before then, good old military exercises.

If any of you are headed out to shoot at Phoenix on weekends drop me a PM and if I'm working those days I'll stop by your bay and bust your balls while shooting ;) always nice to meet other gun nutz

Own a p226 Elite Dark in 9mm. Wouldn't choose a different 9mm.
Not sure why anyone would complain about the weight. My little wife shoots it (like a champ) with no complaints. What's with these guys and their weak wrists?

Nothing about weak wrists, it doesn't feel balanced when you reload.

Yes, it's not heavy at all. The all SS models are heavier but even still not that bad. Pick up my Desert Eagle and tell me what is heavy :p

As long as something is balanced, the weight isn't much of an issue. The frame is a light metal alloy therefore it's not a heavy pistol.

Both of these are heavier and are still very comfortable to shoot:

and this one is a LOT heavier

226 is a pussycat, 9mm and 40cal are comfortable. But that's just me.

Yes, it doesn't work for everyone. I've had a Sig 239, 220, 226, 226 Elite, 226 Platinum Elite and 1911 and they've all been fantastic. So the OP can make up his own mind. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

I was adding balance to the fan boy thread lol

I love sigs and trust my life to one.
