We were shooting at crap out in the bush like a bunch of rednecks. Shooting with lee enfields vz 58 and some other hunting rifles. With the rifles it was miss miss miss hit. So I pulled out my old ross Hun killer and everybody hid behind the pickup and ready to dial 911. I loaded and opened up on a metal post. All we heard was bang ping, bang ping, bang ping, bang ping, bang ping.

Just the best rifle in my collection. Everybody gathers around to check out the sliding bolt action. Thanks to this forum and the EE section that gave me the opertunity to buy this rifle. I have wanted one for years. And I will never sell it.

Shootin stop signs again are we?

Also this is in the black & green shotguns, I doubt the bore is that bad on your ross.

:p

I just got a Ross too. Haven't shot it yet, but it is a lovely firearm. However, I wasn't aware that the Ross rifle was considered a Tactical Shotgun :D (wrong forum!)

Here's mine. Some would call her a Bubba, but I think those people are morons ;)

Its not the first time, but its not in original wood so its kind of a crap shoot. Still its a beauty!

She's not original, but she is very well done, I would hazard a guess that that conversion was done by a professional.

Did you not read his post?? You kind of just called yourself a moron. ??
Nice lookin rifle though! Glad to hear it shoots straight!

If it makes a difference, I was saying that jokingly. She technically is a bubba; irreversibly modified from original spec. However in my view, Bubba is a slow witted creature that attacks fine military rifles with his hacksaw, blowtorch and angle grinder and turns them into horribly disfigured abominations that resemble only shadows of their former glory. I don't think mine exhibits that level of savagery, though she has been drilled and tapped (somewhat poorly) for a crude but effective homebrew scope rail. I do plan on making some Talley bases to cover up the holes and mount my scope a good 3/4" lower than it currently sits.

that's bubba's rifle for sure my friend. You can play with words all day to make yourself feel better, but denial ain't just a river in egypt. :)

In shotgun related news, I replaced the rotted buttpad on my 52 wingmaster and have the barrel back from Tac-Ord after being cut to 18.5 and new bead installed. It's not black or green, but I think as close as I can get to a 1950's riot gun.

some one who didnt know what they were doing messed it up, the front sight was on backwards, i got a new blade for it, and i got a new rear sight for it as well, i had to flip the front sight and then they took material off the front sight so the blade doenst fit very snug!!! so i gotta shim that up and get myself a hood:)

Well, that's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. Once I get my Talley rings and some bases to reverse engineer, I think you may change that opinion.

For some reason when you titled this Ross all I could see was a 357 or a 45 long Rosco. Would have loved to seen one that works. When I was an EME wearing my dirty little pony we had one mounted at the school that had been rebuilt and it was pretty. Congrats on the find.

no need to get defensive. I'm really just joking around.

But, really, uh.... putting talley rings on a bubba'd rifle still makes it a bubba'd rifle. You have a nice gun, but don't sugar coat it to make yourself feel better. Homemade sight base? Drilled and tapped at home? You can call it whatever you want but don't get mad that it fits the commonly acceptable definition :). I've owned bubba guns, as have many of us and I proudly say it's a bubba gun if it's bubba's gun. Bubba got around and his offspring are everywhere. No need to feel bad about it.

Are we going to talk B&G shotguns any time soon?

Somebody called a guy named Browning a Bubba too for tinkering with guns

Ok, ok, the Ross in question was expertly sporterized and has been vastly improved over it's military configuration. In fact, I would hazard to guess that it's value has at least doubled and if put up for sale there would be a bidding war for it. :)

I take it you call Parker-Hales bubba guns?

Any gun that has do-it-yourself drilled holes I have now started calling unique works of gunsmithing art. And I do sincerely apologize for using the B word about any unique work of gunsmithing art. I have removed the word from my vocabulary and you will never hear it again in the black and green shotgun forum where we are discussing this.

I have been corrected about modified military rifles. I always thought it was such a shame to cut them up, but now I see how it makes them better. I'm going to start buying up all the cheap unique works of art in the EE before people realize that they are worth so much more than they think.

I am so sorry guys. I truly did not realize there were people so sensitive about the B word and I won't use it ever again when talking about tactical shotguns. I promise.
