HK .45 Mark 23 - buy it or not?

At my old part time job (Shoppers Drug Mart) there was an "ex-sniper" who could shoot HIS semi auto Barrett .50cal that the army gave him cause he was so good (LOL!) and his average 10 shot groups were under .2" at 500 yards.

I told him that is super cool...how do you do that when the bullet alone is .5"? I then asked him for lesson and told him he can use my own guns to show me how to shoot to epically but he declined. :p

This is going to sound like a complete BS story but I assure you that it's true.

I have a friend that has been a US SOCOM weapons tech (not sure what his actual title is) for years and he has never even seen a Mk.23 come through his facility.
These guns are not used by US forces; however, that doesn't mean that they aren't a damn fine pistol.

Damn you - I wasnt expecting that.

That was my plan from the start actually. Lol. Respect dude.
Obviously I was being a smartass with the groups comment, however it is one of the most accurate guns I own. Fixed barrel is one of the reasons.

Back to users of the gun, seriously, no one uses it in specops, Todd actually knows what he's talking about.

HK Mark 23 - to buy or not to buy?

Had a meeting with me, myself & I on the subject matter. The first decision reached was to not include Wifey in the discussions. In the course of the later which took a few days, 3 bottles of red wine and one of scotch were consumed to keep the 3 of us going. We're still counting the empty beers. Anyhow, I am pleased to report that the verdict is unanimous: it is a buy decision.

I did let go of the opportunity for 1 in Montreal, but did place an order to one of our sponsor. Lets not lie about it, the monies saved on QST will go towards additional mags.

Thank you all for the excellent comments, they were very helpful.

:confused::confused:I have nothing against you, anyone that likes the Mk23, anyone that has differing views on the pistol or H&K as a company for that matter.
If you are taking my comments personally - well, I'm sorry to hear that.
I thought this was a forum for sharing ideas, knowledge and opinion.

No hard feelings.

Cheers,
Dan

Congratulations!

You will not be disappointed.

Nerco bump...I have one coming in a few weeks (maybe a couple months, money depending). It is NEW, one of the last ones in Canada in such a condition I was told. It was from a long lost flat of guns in the back of a storage room that was sold to a local dealer (in London) when the original company sold/went down. (or so I was told!) :p

This is my #1 dream gun, could NOT be more excited :)

Next to get is a SIG P210 and a Swiss Ordnance 1882 revolver!

I've owned it twice....love the HK MARK 23 .45 Auto ....amazingly accurate. 50 yard head shots for breakfast, standing up, free handed. 6" barrel and longer sight radius makes it an accurate tool. A true 230 grain hard ball spitter ;)
